The universe will bring him to his destination. If he chooses to fight nature, he will do everything in his power to try and survive. He may try and do irrational and unnatural things. Will he understand that the ocean cannot be defeated and that life is the one in control? This will decide if he loses sanity and possibly his life or if he will open up to God in the roughest of times.  "It was natural that, bereft and desperate as I was, in the throes of unremitting suffering, I should turn to God.” (284). He has chosen to let go, to live life however the cards are dealt to him. He will not try and fight the dealer, just to fail, he has learned. Pi has accepted the ways of life; he truly understands the universe and God now.
