This amendment states 5 different rights in one amendment. You can practice any religion as long as it doesn't harm or take away from anyone else's rights. Freedom of the press means publishing your thoughts and opinions without restraint or censorship. Assembly means that you can gather people and protest for certain causes as long as it stays peaceful and doesn't harm anyone or cause destruction to any property. Freedom to petition means that citizens can push our government to make changes and lobby for ideas that they think are necessary. Lastly, freedom of speech means that you can say whatever you want. This does not mean you won't face consequences for harmful things you say.

Individuals have the right to keep their own guns in their homes and can use them to defend themselves and their property. Citizens also have the right to a well-regulated militia or current-day military.

Citizens in the United States do not have to quarter soldiers unless of extreme circumstances.

No law enforcement can come into your house without a warrant unless they have a reason to believe there is immediate danger. (Search). No law enforcement can take anything that belongs to you without a warrant.

Due process means that you must have a certain charge to remain in jail. Double jeopardy means that you cannot be charged twice for the same crime. Self-incrimination is the right to remain silent. "I plead the 5th." Eminent domain is when the government wants to take your property, but must pay you for it.

If you're accused of something you will get a trial as quickly as possible and the jury will be unbiased.

If you are charged for $20 or more, you can go to court and try not to pay the charges.

You cannot be given an excessive amount to pay to bail someone out, and you cannot give someone a greater punishment than they deserve.

You have more rights than the ones directly stated in the Constitution.

Individual states will decide if the power isn't directly given to the federal government.
