His influences alone are the most important influences of the Beach Boys. Brian Wilson takes influences from almost all over. One of the most famous influences were Chuck Berry. Brian Wilson stated "I met Chuck Berry one time on an airplane. I said, "Hi, I'm Brian Wilson!" He goes, "Hey," and then he turned away. He wouldn't talk to me. Too bad. But he taught me how to write rock and roll songs." He liked Chuck Berry's sound, he even used Berry's popular guitar riff in a Beach Boys song. He also took influences from more pop artists like girl groups. He liked songs by the Ronnettes like "Be my Baby". One of the bigger influences were doo-wop groups like Four Freshmen. Brian Wilson really like the Four Freshmen and took inspiration from the harmonic style. You can see things like harmony in Beach Boys songs like "Surfer Girl". Brian also looked up to producer, Phil Spector and his wall of sound.
