The author wants to teach us that education is important because it can affect your whole life, and can make you see life in a whole different way. Education can influence you in a way that would not happen if you did not have education. Education influences your choices in a different way than if you do not have education. Education influences you in such a way that your whole life could change. Education is very powerful, and can affect how you see things. It can make you take things in in a different way, affecting the outcome, what you think. Education can make everything change for you, making your life entirely different, just like education completely changed the rat's lives.
