The Secrets We Keep By: Trisha Leaver

I came across this book last year but I didn't feel like I fully understood the book, so I decided to read it again. The book is about to identical twins that were always together until high school. One of the twins Maddy hangs out with the popular kids and becomes popular as well. Ella is the smart one who likes to stay in the shadows and who everyone thinks is weird. One tragic night they both got in a car crash. One of the twins had died. Which one could it have been? The twin that survives doesn't know who she is or where she is she is comforted by her parents her or her sisters boyfriend and the entire school. The twin assumes she is Maddy and everyone thought that's who she was. Until night she goes to see her sister who has passed to help with the grieving process. As soon has she sees her sister she knows she is not Maddy and in fact she it Ella. She doesn't know how to tell her parents that she is Ella because they wanted her to be Maddy. She decides to forget about her life and relive Maddy's because she feels that it should of been her to die. My favorite character is Maddy because she is so selfless. She has always stood by her sisters side no matter how disrepectful she was always there. She changed her identity because she knew how important it was to her sister to go to college and have a family and because she died she couldn't have that so she had it for her to show her how her life would look. Ella is an amazing character she is way more selfless than me because I wouldn't of been able to do that. I really enjoyed this book because it really opened my mind up on how to be selfless and brave and not just think about my self.

I found this book during our survival unit in Language arts. This book is about the moon being knocked out of orbit and life after the fact. After the moon was knocked out of orbit there were all types of natural disasters and power outages. But the best Part of the story is that the narrator of the main character in the book named Miranda. Miranda was basically writing down everything that was happening in the book. The book was her diary really. She talked about school, her family, her dad and mom spitting up and her dad getting a new wife who is now pregnant, and her new boy friends who was also on her swim team named Dan, and how Dan was leaving for good. Actually in the book a lot of people left and started heading south if they could get in. I thought this book was really good because it talked about suvival family and love.
