My artwork explores the idea of taking advantage of opportunities while they last. I used floral imagery to represent lost or seized moments, calling on color saturation and the flower’s life cycle as metaphors (1-6,11,15). I investigated how to convey the message of taking advantage of life by altering and reassembling these images (2, 3, 10-15). In my exploration I looked at the tension between thriving and disintegrating states (1, 4-7, 11). My focus shifted to explore abundance and expansion through radiating and repeated images (2, 3, 8, 12-15).

I experimented with blending, layering, saturating and contrasting elements to show seizing vs. wasting opportunities (1, 3, 4). I practiced using warm and cool colors to represent bloom vs. withering. (1, 4, 6, 8) I included parts of the main flower, and manipulated some parts to create the effect of withering/disintegrating. (2, 3, 13) I experimented w/material such as lawn, soil, flowers, leaves and left scatters as a disintegration symbol. (2, 5, 7, 10). I revised my work to contrast between two states. (1, 5, 7, 9, 12).
