Sit-ins, demonstrations, and boycotts were organized in favor of equal rights, for all African-American individuals, (Events like the Montgomery bus boycotts). It wasn't until 1964 that the Supreme Court ruled that discrimination on the basis of race, religion, sex, or national origin. The Ku Klux Klan or KKK, was a group of white supremicists founded in 1866, that aimed to prevent equal rights amound African Americans.
