Personally, I don't believe that he killed Hae because none of the evidence strongly proves that he did it. Most of the evidence is reasoned by assumption along with Jay's statements. But, I don't think that Jay is telling the truth because the story does not line up with the statement/letters given by Asia.

I think that Adnan's case wasn't approached properly. It seems like his lawyer gave up on the case and didn't try to defend him. I think it's suspicious that Asia wasn't used as his alibi during the trial. I think that Jay could be a suspect because he was very quick to go to the police and report Adnan despite not thinking of going to the police while Adnan was at track practice. But, we know that Jay isn't making everything up because Adnan and Jay both agree that they went to buy Stephanie a present.

The case is very twisted and since there is barely any documented evidence about what has happened on that day. I also find to difficult to believe Asia and Jay because of how much they remember but their stories were also very specific and difficult to make up. I really enjoyed this podcast and I am excited to listen to more.

(Juan) From the information we been give so far, there is no clear answer to the question of Adnan's guilt for this crime. But so far I think Jay is lying because his story contradicts what Asia is saying, and I believe Asia as she has no reason to lie if she wasn't even involved with the crime.

I'm not sure who I think committed the murder yet. I feel like there wouldn't be a story to read if Adnan wasn't innocent. The fact that Jay seemed to know everything about the murder, and even be a part of digging Hae's "grave" is super weird to me. I feel like if Jay was speaking the truth, and had actually experienced the things he did with Adnan, that he would have notified a figure of authority immediately, or at least that's what most people would've done. I feel like Jay had a bigger part of this crime than anyone else, but i'm not sure why he would do something like that.

In my opinion, Adnan is guilty. There has been nothing that he has said which definitely proves where he was during that time. Along with this, it seems unlikely that Jay, who was his close friend, would lead such a descriptive lie of how Adnan committed the murder. The amount of detail in Jay's alibi made it seem more valid than Adnan's use of "probably" and "would have been".

Some of the sources are a little unreliable, especially since you are asking teens where they were six weeks ago, and not many people would remember that. This doesn't necessarily mean they elaborately planned a lie or are trying to cover something up because their stories changed, they could just be confused.

(Meghan W) I'm not sure who the murderer is but signs point more to Jay than Adnan. Sure, Adnan is unsure about his answers towards the investigator which makes him look guilty, but Jay being able to recall every single event in detail is even more suspicious. There is still so much information that is missing such as "what was Jay's relationship with the victim?" etc. I need to listen to more of the podcast to figure out my answer.

My initial thoughts about the first episode of Serial Season 1 is that it could go many ways. I honestly don't think Adnan is necessarily guilty though because Jay seems a lot more suspicious than him. I think it was quite possible that Jay was jealous that Adnan was clearly close with his girlfriend and didn't like the fact that Adnan got her a present before him. It also seems suspicious that Asia remembers such specific details. If I was 15 years in the future, I don't think I could remember all that. I also think that the narrator, Sarah, does a really good job explaining everything and making it seem mysterious. It really makes you want to keep listening.

The evidence that we've heard has led me to believe that Jay is really the one lying and trying to cover something up by using Adnan. But it really does go against Adnan for the fact that he doesn't really have any recollection of that day and doesn't have many witnesses that can vouch for him.

The fact that she didn't even speak to Asia about a possible alibi is a total red flag. Also I don't feel like Jay was being truthful. Adnan wasn't even that big of a suspect yet but then he confessed to helping cover up the murder? That's prison time too and I don't think anyone would be dumb enough to get themselves in trouble too for the greater good, especially not a teenager in Baltimore that's consistently breaking laws and hasn't snitched before (that we know of). All in all, at this point in the podcast, I want to believe Adnan, but I can't be sure of anything yet.

There is still more information that needs to be unfolded but it seems like when Sarah spoke to Adnan on the phone that he was very unclear of the events that happened on January 13th almost proving that he is trying to lie and get away with the murder even

Additionally, Adnan's response may have hinted a far more profound form of shrouding the truth. Asia may have had intimate relations with individuals convicted of a crime who wished not to be charged at court.

I think Adnan is innocent because of how little the lawyers tried to defend him and the clear alibis that could have been looked into. Jay's interview is also very suspicious because he should have also received jail time for his suspected aid in the crime and the way he described the day sounds like he thought about it on the spot. Asia knew the day with more detail and had evidence to back it up, which should have been a better story to use as evidence over Jays that has little to no evidence to prove it.

I think Adnan is innocent. If Jay was recalling, in very specific detail, what happened the day of the murder, Adnan would've remembered that day more than he says he did. So, that led me to believe that Jay was making up a story. If it was just a regular day for him he wouldn't have remembered anything from the day either. Then , Adnan not remembering anything form that day even after Jays story seems weird because if he was talking about a day they went out together he would've been like "oh yea, and then we did..." but he still didn't remember much. Probably because he was telling a false story of what happened that day. Adnan also grew up as a good kid, so it doesn't make sense that he'd very suddenly flip a switch and decide to murder someone he respects and loves. I also think Jay has things against Adnan because they always have some sort of competition thing going on. For the school dances they were trying to see who could get the prettiest prom date. Adnan was asking Jay if he got his gf a gift, and he didn't but Adnan did. Adnan was the golden boy, which must've been super intimidating to Jay. They seem very competitive, so maybe Jay wanted to murder Hae to take something from Adnan and then frame him to make him seem like a hero and Adnan no longer the golden boy. Adnan also had an alibi and Jay didn't. Sarah talked to Asia and her boyfriend and they both seemed like they were telling the truth. Her boyfriend said that Asia is not the lying type. Why would these random people, who weren't friends with Adnan, go out of their way to tell detectives that they saw him and then stand by it saying it's the truth. They don't know him or have any care about him. So, they would only say it because it's the truth and the right thing.

As of right now I believe that Jay is guilty. Asia's letters are convincing and solidifying the alibi that Adnan was in the library in the 21 unaccounted for time, where the murder supposedly committed. The lack of Adnan's specific memories, show that there clearly wasn't any significant events for him that day. In psychology it is noted that it is easier to remember things if something significant happened.

I think that Adnan is innocent due to the fact that Asia saw her in the library at the time of the murder. This gives him an alibi for Adnan, which overall proves that he didn't kill Hae. It is heartbreaking that Adnan has no hope for another retrial since of his previous request. The person that I believe did do it was Jay. He causally talked about his involvement in the crime without any remorse. If there is a person who a sociopath that would be Jay. The investigator practically told him a story and he claimed it as his own.

The podcast was definitely a very intriguing one, and something that I felt engaged in throughout the entirety of it. This choice of podcast was a good way to respond to what is happening, and feel like you can corroborate or deny the authenticity of it all. I feel that Adnan is not knowledgable about his own story, and if he is innocent, he is not good at proving it. Jay definitely puts himself up there for the crime committed because of the case built against him throughout the podcast.

Although I do not think Adnan is completely innocent, I also believe that Jay had something to do with the murder as well. Jay's story changing every time he tells us makes me believe that he is lying. Also the fact that Asia's story kept changing confused me as well. This episode made me realize that if I were in Adnan's position, I too would not be able to remember something that happened 6 weeks ago.

I strongly believe that Adnan was innocent. There was absolutely no motive for him to murder Hae Lee Min, first of all. Unless he is a master manipulator (like my friend Tomas Tusha), his character suggests that he was just another high school teenager with a ex-girlfriend that he once liked, but by no means was obsessed enough with to murder her. Second of all, his alibi, Asia, clearly stated that she does remember seeing him at the library during the exact time of the murder, meaning that there was no possible way for him to commit the crime.

The more I learned about this murder, I started to believe that Adnan was innocent and was framed by his friend Jay or he helped to frame Adnan. Although they didn't have any concrete evidence on Adnan they still blamed him for the murder of Hae li. The court based their ruling on Jay's confession which wasn't consistent and varied every time he was interrogated. The court depicted Adnan as having a multi personality disorder, however the only thing he is guilty for is having the regular of a teen with strict parents.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the first episode of the podcast. Adnan, in my opinion, was clearly set up by Jay. I think this because Jay seemed to have an exact line of events from a random day, and combined with leading questions from the police, led to a rehearsed and damning story for Adnan.

So far I think there needs to be more talked about jay because there seems to be some un answered questions about him. However Adnan doesn't seem totally innocent because his story doesn't exactly line up. It seems like he was set up because he was a good kid said by many and genuinely loved the girl who was killed.

I found this podcast very interesting and appealing to me. I like it because it adds suspense and it leaves off the listener thinking whose story is more likely to be true or who is lying and why. It is interesting because it is mysterious by the fact that many claim Adnan is innocent because of what they know about him. It is very surprising that this case has been still going and to know that Adnan had spent 15 years in prison because they can't solve his case yet due Asia. I am curious to why his bestfriend Jay confessed against him and what he did. I am concerned also that Adnan does not remember anything that happened that day or even possible alibi. It leaves me off with suspicion.

The story has been chilling so far. From listening, it does not sound like Adnan committed the murder. The alibi against him is very unclear and shaky and the only thing really condemning him to prison at this point is his own uncertainty about what he was doing that day 15 years ago and the fact that the lawyer, Cristina Gutierrez, eliminated the possibility of a strong alibi for Adnan very early on in the case. It was also really heartbreaking to hear that Adnan wasn't even elated by the news because this news had come in too late. It definitely feels like he had been set up to take the blame for this horrific deed.

I really am excited for this journey and the opportunity to listen to a podcast like this. The psychological factors discussed in this episode make me excited for the future; the idea of diving into the mental side of killers is so intriguing to me.
Personally, I do not believe Adnan to be the killer based on the psychological aspects as well as his personality. He not only doesn't seem like the type to kill, but he also doesn't seem to find the day Hae died very memorable. Jay's story and the way he talks to the police seems very fuzzy and strange in the way he delivers. Every time the cop assumed something, Jay followed that story and told him he was correct, and this could be his way of lying and using the interviewer's words as ideas for his own story. All in all, this podcast episode had many layers, and I can't begin to explain all of them. But it was very interesting to listen to.

I actually really enjoyed the first episode of the podcast. At first, I thought Jay was the imposter. He seemed a little sus. His story was shaky and just by his voice I didn't really believe him. But after I heard Asia, her confidence blew me away. She seems very sure of what happened that day and seeing Adnan at the library. It is still early so I do not have a final verdict of who I think the murder is, but I am leaning more towards Jay as of right now. I think Adnan is apart of it.

The setup was really unique, and I was kept on the edge the whole time. I was really surprised by how leading the cops were. Just by the introduction, this whole situation seems to be based on testimonies. I feel like even if Adnan did do it, he should not have been sentenced life based on what has been given. Jay seemed too calm when being questioned, when he "quoted" Adnan, he used wording that paints Adnan in a darker light than what could have actually been.

It's been some time since I've listened to a murder podcast, and the way this one is going to far is interests me. Obviously I continue to wonder and be amazed at the way the court takes cases and undermines the information they get just to peg the crime on someone they believe did it to have the case done and closed. From this, you can see that I don't believe that Adnan did it, Jay seems much more suspicious than than Adnan.

There is not much evidence to prove that he is guilty, and Asia, even Sarah, the narrator, who talks to Adnan frequently says that he does not seem like a murderer. Jay, who describes things and events with such detail seems to be lying, because there is no way he could have remembered all the little details from such a long time ago. His story also wasn't adding up and he kept changing it as the interrogator was attempting to finish his sentences. Adnan on the other hand didn't remember anything about that day, which shows that nothing important happened.

It was completely made up as his testimony didn't match up with Asia's. In addition, he was just agreeing with everything that the cop was saying based on his leading questions. Maybe he made a plea deal or something, but its just odd to me how the story adds up. It doesn't seem like Jay and Adnan were close friends, they just smoked together occasionally and Jay supplied his weed. It just all seems very odd. I also think its weird that he only came forward when the body was found which is a bit strange to only do then, possibly it was out of fear of bring caught or assisted so he was being overly compliant. The narrator or host or whatever of the podcast is also very captivating, she tells her story and reveals information in such an intriguing way.

I always thought that Jay was suspicious and he may have been the real murderer, or he at least knew something he wasn't saying. I thought this because of how well he could remember all the details about the day of the murder, so many years ago. While Adnan seemed more likely to innocent and falsely accused, based on the facts that Asia presented. Even though she may have switched her facts a couple times, I still think he is innocent because it was so long ago, Asia is more likely to mix up certain things. Adnan had a lot going for him so in my head I kept thinking why would he commit this crime and throw it all away.
