Crowded tenements - These crowded tenements were run down and really crowded, families had few places to turn. Most of the time these tenements were also poorly designed and unsafe.

Sanitation issues - The building that the people in poverty lived in had terrible sanitation people often got diseases. These building lacked of running water and also had sewage and garbage disposal issues.

There is still diseases being spread now like in the progressive era due to unsanitary living conditions in lower income housing.
