The problems that led to inflation in Rome were that the value of Roman coins went down because so many people were using them, they lost value. This led to wholesale corruption in Roman society, as people refused to exchange coinage at the officially fixed tariffs but instead used the black market to exchange coinage on a market principle. People started to put less silver into their coins, until they were worth nothing.

To pay taxes, people bought gold coins. Over time, the gold coins became more expensive, causing them to not be able to pay their taxes. This caused them to lose their land and became delinquents. Some people just ran away because they did not want to be punished for not paying their taxes.

How does Inflation associate with a STG?

The Roman Problem of Inflation most relates with SDG #1, No Poverty because when people have to pay taxes that are very high and they cannot afford it, they will be very poor and they will not have a lot of land. People will be forced to increase prices of their goods. This causes other people who rely on those goods to become poorer. People will stop buying the product because it is too expensive, and sellers will not be making money. They will not be able to afford anything and in the end, they will run away to another city where they can have a fresh start.

Inflation is caused when prices rise due to product cost increasing, such as wages and raw materials. When a demand for products and/or service happens it makes a surge and that can lead to inflation because people are willing to pay more for the product and/or service. Due to all the demands inflation continues to raise prices of products, such as gas to very high amounts. This causes people to put in more hours at their jobs, and end up overworking themselves. It can also be difficult for people to live and afford specific items, like food or clothes. According to RealClearPolicyhttp://www.realclearpolicy.com> The cost of some foods like, milk, beef, and eggs have climbed into double-digit percentage rates.
