         <description><![CDATA[<div>Maria was famous proposing a nuclear shell model of the atomic nucleus. She was also the first woman to win a Nobel Prize In physics. Maria discovered a nuclear shell structure. She earned her Nobel Prize in 1963. She proposed the nuclear shell model of the atomic nucleus. She shared her Nobel prize with J.Hans, D Jenner, and Eugene Paul Winger. Maria was eventually appointed to a position as a full Professor of Physics at the university of California. At San Diego. At Chicago and Argonne she and Edward teller developed a mathematical model for the structure of nuclear shells. She conducted inquires about the source of elements, and noticed about the repetition of the seven "magic numbers". These were deemed 2, 8, 20, 28, 50, 82, and 126. Elements with this magic numbers were more stable than others. Based on this discovery she decoded the layers and showed their proposed the model in 1963.</div>]]></description>
