         <title>Our Stance: Pro Filtering in Middle School but Against Filtering in High School</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Filtering is a positive force in middle schools but is a negative in high schools. At the middle school level, it is keeping them safe from possibly negative and harmful images or videos. However, at the high school level, filtering limits access to a lot of important resources. For example, it limits access to LGBTQ support systems that students might not have or be able to use at home. It also limits access to mental health resources for those students that are struggling. From an academic standpoint, filtering hurts students who are actively researching topics that may be approved by the teacher but not approved by the filtering system. This forces the student to research at home which is not possible for all students, especially those who do not have access to technology outside of school. As a whole, filtering doesn’t allow students to learn how to use the internet effectively, safely, and responsibly. It stops them from becoming good ‘digital citizens’ because they do not have the opportunity to learn from their mistakes. <br><br></div>]]></description>
