To a degree, analytics can tell us how effective a teacher is with his/her students. While there are several factors and a multitude of qualitative data that determine the effectiveness of a teacher, the data on student performance (growth and proficiency) are a result of the teacher.

I work with teachers at my school to use learning analytics from a variety of sources including formative assessments, MAP data, historic data from EOGs, and other places to help teachers see both a big picture of what is happening in their classes as a whole and to see what is happening for individual students. I assist teachers by extracting data and putting it in tables and graphs that help them see what is happening. Currently, we are examining EOG data from the past two weeks of testing to determine placement for courses for students and to determine next steps in planning for next year.
