         <description><![CDATA[<p>The war was not meeting the expectations of the Republicans. Federalists wanted to use this to their political benefit. 1814, the Federalists convened in Hartford, Connecticut. A minority of the Federalists wanted New England to secede from the Union, but the majority decided just to issue a resolution to amend the Constitution in favor of strengthening the Federalists in New England.  However, a victory over Britain at New Orleans put to bed the Federalist's hopes. Republicans' pride swelled over this victory, and Federalists now appeared as petty and unpatriotic.</p>]]></description>
