Many people have a negative view of the older students in particular and it’s typically based on the actions of a few who make poor choices. We have so many amazing kids in our schools and it would be great to have community members share in some of the many successes of local schools. If we can make schools more welcoming of the community, we could see an increase in much needed volunteers which in turn would benefit all students. Thinking things like therapy dogs/animals making regular visits to all schools, locals sharing information about trades and entrepreneurship, making Relay for Life a community event again, perhaps a town wide multicultural festival with both public and student participation.
