Worldview: While it is important to work together with the other nations of the world, every country's top priority is to  look out for themselves.

Beliefs: The US need to work to maintain beneficial relationships but we shouldn't put ourselves out to help countries that will do us no good in return.

Policies: We should build alliances with fellow countries, pursue green technologies, confront any country harboring terrorists, use international trade to benefit our own economy, and increase military flexibility so that we can respond quickly in a crisis.

Arguments For: Maintaining alliances will help protect us from threats in the east, and our forceful presence will discourage attacks. Our presence in unstable areas may help prevent problems from arising in those places. Plus, keeping good interests world wide will help us economically.

Arguments against: If we only look out for ourselves, other countries may grow to resent us. Maintaining relations with cruel countries may set us back on human rights issues. Focusing on foreign policy distracts from domestic issues. Plus, as proven in the past, if we don't help other countries, their problems may become ours, and turning our back on problems when they don't immediately effect us may lead to genocides such as Rwanda.
