         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>The idea of Social Emotional Learning was introduced to pop culture through Daniel Goleman, a New York Times scientist reporter.</li><li>"The book, <em>Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More than IQ</em>, introduced the idea that not only does character development matter, it can be taught, unlike one's IQ" (Tavares, M., 2011).</li><li>This theory that character can be taught further drove the idea of social and emotional learning into classrooms around the country.</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

E., 2022).</li><li>"As CASEL broadens its network and collaborates with a multitude of stakeholders, it is well under way into turning Social and Emotional Learning into a national movement" (Waid, B. Weissberg was named one of the 12 new members elected to the National Academy of Education for his many accolades in the Social and Emotional Learning movement" (Weissberg, R. P., 2021).</li><li>"Weissberg has authored over 260 publications that focuses on preventative measures for children and adolescents and has developed curriculum that promotes social competence and prevents problematic behaviors including drug use, sexual behaviors, and aggressive behavior" (Weissberg, R. P., 2021).</li><li>"Weissberg currently serves as NoVo Foundation Endowed Chair in Social and Emotional Learning and is Board Vice0Chair and Chief Knowledge Officer for the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL). For the past 30 years, he has trained scholars and educators to design, implement, and assess family, school, and community interventions" (Weissberg, R.
