Jim Thorpe was born on a reservation in  oklahoma in 1887
 he was one of the first of the tribe to go college he went to carlisle to pursue
sports he was orginally there for track and feild but soon convinced the coach to let him play football at corner and kicker he also after college he played baseball and then won a gold medal in track to the American people he was a succses story from being born in a indian reservation
