         <description><![CDATA[<div>Manual workers, servants, apprentices, sailors, hired hands and semi-skilled tradesmen were colonists of the lower class. They also could not vote nor hold public office. few owned property and most were illiterate. The lower classes were bolstered by Indentured Servants and some slaves. The Middle class citizens of Colonial New Hampshire could vote but few held public office. They ran stores or small businesses, were skilled tradesmen or belonged to professions. The Upper class consisted of wealthy and well educated minor aristocrats who could vote and held high public office.</div>]]></description>

These stocks were the early “jails.” People could taunt you, slap you, and often throw rotten food at you. In some cases offenders were left out in the elements for lengthy periods of time."</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The New Hampshire Constitution stated that&nbsp; “all men are born equal and independent,” but that clause did not mean that slavery was not present in New Hampshire during the 1780s. In fact, in 1714, New Hampshire legislators passed an act that regulated the conduct of slaves, and four years later, they adopted another act to regulate the powers and responsibilities of the slave master. Slavery was not abolished until the Civil War, even though many citizens thought the constitution made it clear that slavery had ended during the 1780s.<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

For example old farms became vacation homes for people who in some cases paid the local property taxes. While their city/towns were made for more of a living. Rural areas were made for industry and farming while the towns/cities were more for a living than for a profit.</div>]]></description>

A Royal colony was administered by a royal governor and council that was appointed by the British crown. They had a representative assembly that was elected by the people.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Men wore linen shirts, breeches (short length pants that were fastened at the knee), long woolen socks, and plain leather shoes (usually without buckles).&nbsp;<br><br>Women wore, long gowns or skirts with a jacket, belts (sometimes), long woollen stockings, plain leather shoes, styled their hair to be long but it would have been judged unseemly for hair to be shown.<br><br></div><div>The clothing of young boys and girls were simple shifts. The clothing worn by children over the age of seven were similar in style to the clothing worn by adults.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
