The cover does make a difference as can be seen by comparing no cover and Styrofoam. The average heat loss per minute for no cover was -2.36667 °C. Compared to the average heat loss per minute for Styrofoam that was -1.79°C. The cover kept in more heat because it slowed convection in the beaker resulting in a warmer temperature.

The reference data, the one with no cover, losses the most heat, as expected. The cover that lost the least amount of heat was the aluminum foil at -1.36 per min. This would be the most effective to heat loss and would be the best to use as a cover. The material that lost the most heat was the duck tape at -2.02 per min.

We know that the cover material made a difference because the average temperature change was -2.36 degrees per minute, which is changing at a very quick rate. The average temperature change for aluminum foil was -1.36 degrees per minute which is changing at a slightly smaller rate than the beaker with no cover. The aluminum foil cover insulated it better than the beaker with no cover so the cover does make a difference.
