It is my first time to study writing an academic essay. Professor mak teaches me a lot. The first essay, I learned how to write outlines of body paragraphs. Mak used a video to introduce what is an academic essay. Then he gave us some specific examples. For example, he uses three main ideas and three points for each idea in one essay which is people want more happiness. I had never seen this before. It really helps me to write an essay of 800 words. The first time, it is pretty hard to think of ideas. So, Mak gave me some ideas. When I finish my essay, I go to the learning lab. There are so many tutors who can help me fix my work. They help me check my grammar mistakes and give me suggestion to make my sentences more logical.  Meanwhile, I have finished my second essay. It is easier to organize a thesis statement than the first one. Also, I write more words than before. I think that I am becoming a good writer. About my final essay, although I know how to write a good essay, I will try my best at it. I will follow the steps which I did before. For example, I am going to do research on my topic. If I finish it, I will go to the learning lab to ask tutors for helping me. Now, I have learned the methods of writing an academic essay from Mak. The things that we have covered in the writing course seem unbelievable for such a little time, but still, we cover them and they were understandable to everyone and no one left behind even if he was absent. Things such as how to write a body paragraph with the help of the outlines, how to write an introduction and the thesis statement for an essay, but also develop grading rubrics. The first essay is also the hardest one right? At least, I believe that. In my first essay, I wrote about what I wanted more from a career wealth or happiness. To be honest, it was the only essay I thought I could develop with the number of words we had to write. But it was easier than we thought it would be with the help of the instructors and the help of the teacher. On the other hand, the second essay seemed to be easier than the first one even if we had less time, it was easier to develop the topic I choose. I wrote about how to fight sexual violence against young women; it is a really sensitive topic to write because it is a serious problem that everyone keeps ignoring. When I searched the statics about the sexual violence it terrified me, so I wrote… I wrote everything I could found to make at least one more people sensitized with what I wrote for the sexual violence, and I hope I did. However, for the final essay, I choose a completely different topic; it is about terminally ill patients if they should be allowed to die on their own terms or not. I think this topic is sensitive too but a seriously arguable subject and that’s the reason I choose it. The experience with the 7-week class so far is really an incredible experience for those who really have time to work for this class and be truly focus on their goal. It’s not a class for excuses and for semi-finished work. For me, it seem easier than the other classes because I didn’t have time to get distracted, so I made time out of nowhere just to finish what we need to finish. My personal opinion is everyone should try at least once 7-week class you need to live it so you can really understand how fast the time passes. Is only one week left and the things we have cover and learn so far seem too much for the time but it is alright because I know that if I could take 7 weeks class again, I would do it for sure.

When it comes to conveying information the longer a sentence becomes.. It can have a stronger impact on the reader to use 2or 3 shorts sentences and then a long one, instead of a series of all long or short sentences. Even just thinking of reading. also want to consider my word choices, and chose easy and understandable the vocabulary. I used key words or expressions from my life to support my ideas, because I do not want surprisingly who reads my essay, and give them clearly image. Through this course I have covered many new things that I used for the first time such as developing grading rubrics, and write outlines of the three body paragraphs. In addition, I have learned how to write an exciting intro +thesis statement with the formula topic sentence and give my opinion. I also learned how to write a proper conclusion that supports my research.
  In this course, I came to understand the writing process, how to use English for study at college, and how to develop my writing skills, vocabulary and grammar by keeping structure and organization in my mind. The outlines that I learned to make help me to write clear and specific ideas for each topic sentence. It was my first experience to use outlines and it was a big challenge for me to write good and focused ideas, and to prevent repetition among the three different points of my thesis statement. My first essay was about "Health and Happiness". Luckily, I was successful because of our professor's help and his encouragement to us to be more self confident, to be able to write between 600 and 700 words for the first time since the beginning of my journey of studying; also, it was my first time to use outlines for body paragraph with three main ideas for each one, it was a new thing in learning skills because I used to write the topic sentence and I developed it with three examples or pieces of evidence; moreover, I took advantage of the lab professors because they provided good support, whether to correct my grammar mistakes, or to offer more powerful ideas. Then I wrote three different drafts before writing my final draft.
  My second essay was about" The Importance of Technology in the Classroom ". It was my second chance to confirm skills acquired in my first essay by following the same paths under the supervision of my professor. I was so glad when my professor said, " Your essay is very good. " I felt that my journey from the determination of my thesis statement to the final draft, passing through the outlines and lab, was successfully achieved.
  For my final essay, I will follow the same structure that my professor is teaching us to enrich and confirm my essay. Then I can present it to him. I hope I do not disappoint him because I have a responsibility to present a good essay to confirm the efforts of what our great professor taught us.
  Beside the effective work, we have fun activities to. These activities provides a familiar environment among us. I am very grateful to my professor which made us enjoy this atmosphere full of hard work and pleasure. I can not forget his help and his support in my moments of strength and weakness. When he said to me," You are a wonderful student," he gave me strength to continue and fight in order to study and guarantee my ambitions.
 Over the last few weeks , I have felt more positive, so problems don't seem as daunting. I feel like I am reconnecting with the reasons why I love studying. I hope that sharing my story will help others feel the same way.

Who is you teacher? How are going so far with this experience, especially in the writing? These are the questions that the students ask most to others who are taking intensive English. I enjoyed this amazing experience because of several reasons, such as having a special teacher, writing a good essay, and reviewing the lesson of the previous day. I remember six months ago, i couldn't respond to an email, or mail, and i did not know how to start an essay. Dr. Mak played a significant role in this course. Because of him, and the way that he taught his students, we have become a good writers. We know that every essay should have an introduction, body paragraph, and conclusion. But in Dr. Mak’s course you learn also how to organize and develop your essay, how to write engaging introduction+thesis statement, and every body paragraph should have 3 main points. This method helped me to write 800 words easily in my first essay, which was about whether or not parents are violating their children's privacy when they share photos or videos of them online. At the beginning, i felt my ideas are scattered, but the paragraph outline that Dr. Mak gave us before every essay helped me to organize my ideas. Furthermore, the lab tutors who i met helped my essay to be ready for submission. By using same skills in the second essay, i didn't have too many difficulties. On the contrary, i wrote more words than i expected even if the topic about “Does technology make us alone?” had a tight field of ideas. Now, I feel more confident, and well armed with all the techniques that we have learned in this intensive course which would help me in my final essay, and moreover in my personal, and professional life.

Is an intensive writing course a good choice for a foreign student? Is there enough time to achieve goals on writing and to pass the course? These and many others questions came to my mind when I went to register for the first time classes. But, for sure it was a good decision because I have learn a lot in this course. The way that our teacher, Mak organize and explain everything made it more easy for me to learn. First, he gave us the opportunity to create our own grading rubric that he is now using to grade our essays. Also, based on that, we graded several essays and this was a good way to understand more about our grading and how a good essay is. I have learn how to create the thesis statement (topic+my opinion ) and to write outlines of body paragraphs. On my first essay I chose to write about happiness in career and how important is to be happy at work. At first, I was so confused about how to write and organize all my thoughts and ideas about the topic. But, using the outlines for body paragraph, getting Mak’s approval, and meeting a lab tutor was so helpful for me to write a very good essay.

Meanwhile, for the second essay I did so many researches, and everything I read, is in my mind. It was about the ways how to prevent sexual violence against young women. Having two children who are growing in a world like this, created to me a thrill of emotions and made me to read as many stories about this topic. Last of all, I chose the best information from all that I had read and all my opinion about this topic and I surprisingly wrote an essay with a total of 1000 words. About the third essay, it is going to be with more examples from my life because the topic that I chose to write about is What Makes a Good Parent! Finally, coming into English 098 course for 7 week was something I was afraid of, but now I am happy to be part of it. Furthemore, I know that my ability to write and express my ideas, thoughts and knowledge has grown stronger in this course and the “short time “ was not an obstacle to achieve these. As a result, I think I am ready for the next coming course.

In our writing course, we learned a lot of thing in last 7 week. Everyone thinks that 7-week advance intense class is the hardest one. But for us, it is very essay and goes so fast. In our writing course, we covered a lot of things such as how to write a good essay, how to write paragraphs, how to underline paragraphs. Also, we learned how to create our own grading rubrics for the essay, how to start writing an attractive introduction and thesis statements, hooks etc.  Making thesis statements is a more interesting part because in thesis statements we can add our opinions and topic sentences 
In this course, we write 2 essays and we are working on our final one. My first essay is about can money buy happiness or wealth. It was a quite interesting topic for me. It takes 2 or 3 weeks to complete it. First, I write a draft and we discuss with our learning lab tutors. They are very nice and more trained. We have workshops which help me a lot to write my essays. It was so hard for me to write an essay because I don't like it. Mak helps me a lot to write by giving different ideas and checking drafts. My second essay was about sexual violence against young girls, I feel comfortable by writing these essay because I know our professors gonna help me. Also, I know how to start the essay, how to build good thesis statements. Finally, i didn't choose any topic for my final essay. Am still working on it because I have a bunch of nice topics. I feel more confident about writing the third essay by my lab teachers because we are more close. 
My experience was very good by taking this course. I passed almost 6 weeks in this course and it was very funny and helpful for me. The last term also I took the intensive course and it was too boring but this class was interesting. My professor is very good and the way he teaches is very nice.  I love to work with him for my next semester. Overall am very with a 7-week intensive course that is taking now. Am telling everyone to take this class with our professor. 
By his training, I hope am ready to take the next English classes.

By,following all the suggestions I think we can become a good writer.As well,meeting the lab tutor it’s helps a lot to improve my writing.However,in my first essay for this semester I wrote about that from a career I want more happiness than health because actually happiness is healthy. But,the first experience in my first essay it was not easy. Besides after all the practice and meetings with the lab tutor I helped myself a lot for getting good results. I remember to myself what professor Mak told as “More you practice more good writer you became”- he was right! After the first essay we jumped in the second one,which a choice a sensitive topic. I deserve to talk about how to fight sexual violence in young women. One of my trick in my way to become a good writer is always I pick social topics because is a easy way to practice your writing. Although,in the second essay I feel myself more assured than the first essay. It takes some time to get practice and follow the rules but it is worth.In my third essay I decided to talk about death penalty in US. This time I hope that I’m doing better than last two times.In conclusion,this semester I learn so many things that I will never forget and I’m so thankful to my professor Mak.All this practice it’s was very necessary to improve my writing and to do better in my next class.Seven week corse it’s was one of my best choices.

My first essay is “if your values did not match your employer’s, would you quit?” We discussed our topic and arguments with Mak first, and he gave us many useful suggestions. Also we had writing workshop with classmates, that is so interesting and helpful. If you have any good ideas, you must share them with your classmates, which will help you perfect your ideas. Then, we went to learning Lab meeting Lab tutor who can help us to complete our essay. The learning Lab professor still gave us a lot of advice. When I started my second essay, I had a lot of experience. Mak gave me some research papers that help me a lot. We wrote like the first essay and followed these steps. Mak especially help us a lot, he discussed ideas with us and then took us to learning Lab. For the final essay, I will talk with Mak first, because I want to discuss my ideas and share my opinion. After that, I will go to learning Lab meeting with Lab professor. 
If you want to write a good essay, you must communicate with your professor. You should also talk and share your ideas with your classmates. At least, be sure to see your learning Lab professor.
