He was a primary leader of Indians independence movement and also th architect of a form of nonviolent civil disobedience. He fought for Indian liberation.

He began defiant march to the sea in protest of the British monopoly on salt. Britain's salt acts prohibited Indians from collecting or selling salt, so Ghandi declared resistance against British salt policies.

It inspired him to not give up even when the challenges seem high to over come.

]]> 2017-03-02 14:06:34 UTC https://padlet.com/katie_presley/glaiuyvj0z7z/wish/157319843 katie_presley https://padlet.com/katie_presley/glaiuyvj0z7z/wish/157320508 Martin Luther King Jr. was an important activist and leader in the Civil Rights Movement.Born on January 15th,1929 in Atlanta,Georgia,he was born to Michael King,who was a pastor.He and his father later on changed their names to Martin Luther in honor of a German Protestant leader.Martin Luther King Jr. skipped a few grades and entered into college at age 15.He married Coretta Scott in 1953 and had four children: Yolanda,Martin Luther King the Third,Dexter,and Bernice.In 1955,he took charge of the Montgomery Bus Boycott,where Rosa Parks was arrested and the protest lasted for a year before on November 13th,1956,segregation on buses was declared unconstitutional.In February 1959,he traveled to India to study Gandhi's principles of non-violence.He fought for racial equality before he was killed on a balcony in Memphis,Tennessee at  the Lorraine Hotel on April 4th,1968.His ideas  were similar to Gandhi's because he supported the idea of non-violent protests.His ideas were also similar to Thoreau's because he wanted to try and improve the government and their rules for society.His ideas were also different from both Gandhi and Thoreau's because his was not for unjustly imprisonment and things of that nature,but instead for his people because they were of different race.

more than 50 Walmart workers and supporters were arrested in downtown Los Angeles as they sat in the street protesting what they called the retailer’s “poverty wages.”

What was this person objecting to?
They were protesting against the wages they were making. Walmart can afford to pay each employee 25000$ a year but some were making less than that and they wanted more because they're struggling. Although some found absolutely nothing wrong and said they got paid more and had good health benefits.
