Development
All ideas need refinement, through development, to
become successful, appropriate, and feasible. The
development of solutions allows problems to be solved with
greater success.

Even though the name suggests that the main focus of
development would be found in developing ideas, students
have to develop research plans as and when they realize
that there is further information they need in order to solve
the problem. Students constantly adapt and change their
plans when creating the solution, dependent on the
thoroughness of their planning and, when evaluating,
students develop testing methods to assess the success of
the solution.

Form
Form concerns the overall shape and configuration of a
product. It relates to aspects such as aesthetics, shape,
color, and texture.

Function
The function of a solution refers to what it has been
designed to do and how effective it is at enabling that action
to be performed.

Tinkercad is a powerful web-based CAD (Computer-Aided Design) tool that allows you to create 3D models and designs. While Tinkercad is more commonly used for 3D printing and electronics projects, you can still use it to design a chair concept. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use Tinkercad to design a chair:

Create an account: Visit the Tinkercad website (www.tinkercad.com) and create a free account if you don't already have one. Sign in to access the design workspace.

Start a new project: Once you're signed in, click on "Create New Design" or "Create a New Project" to start a new design.

Set up the workspace: Tinkercad's workspace consists of a 3D grid and various design tools on the right side. Familiarize yourself with the different tools available, such as shapes, rulers, and alignment options.

Add a base shape: To create the seat of the chair, select the "Box" shape from the right-hand menu and drag it onto the workspace. Resize the box to the desired dimensions using the resizing handles.

Refine the shape: Use the various manipulation tools, such as scaling, rotating, and duplicating, to modify the shape of the box and create the desired contours of the chair's seat.

Add additional components: You can use different shapes to add legs, backrests, armrests, or any other components to your chair design. Experiment with shapes like cylinders, boxes, and spheres to create the desired chair structure.

Modify and combine components: Use tools like the "Hole" shape or the "Group" function to modify components and join them together. This step helps refine the design and ensure all parts fit together correctly.

Add details: Tinkercad provides additional shape options like text, logos, or decorative elements that you can use to enhance your chair design. These details can add a personal touch or highlight specific features.

Preview and adjust: Regularly preview your design by clicking the "3D" button on the top right corner. This feature allows you to see how your chair will look in a 3D space. Make any necessary adjustments or refinements as you go along.

Save and export: Once you're satisfied with your chair design, click on the "Design" menu and select "Download for 3D Printing" or "Export" to save the file in a format suitable for further editing or 3D printing.

Remember, designing a chair using Tinkercad might have limitations compared to more advanced CAD software. However, Tinkercad is an excellent tool for beginners or those looking to quickly visualize their ideas. It's always a good idea to explore tutorials, online resources, or even YouTube videos to get inspiration and learn more about Tinkercad's capabilities.
