Kate Chopin's story, "The Awakening" illuminates the idea of home in a literal, but unique, fashion. Edna spends a great deal of the story trying to run away from her home and everything it entails. She attempts to relinquish all her responsibilities towards her family but in the end realizes that she can never truly be free and she will never be satisfied.

In the awakening, m. Pontellier is described as often perusing his house, gazing at each of his magnificent belongings. Early into the novel, he is described as looking at his wife like "one looks at a damaged poscession (?? i cant spell. also not finished but ok).

In The Odyssey, Odysseus is away from home for twenty years. After fighting at Troy, he set to sail home proudly, but he was instantly faced with numerous incredible, dramatic adversities. All the while, Odysseus thought of home, his wife, and his growing son. He remained loyal to them and kept Ithaca close to his heart during all his suffering and hardship. Thus, the thought of home inspires him, fueling his perseverance and grit to get through such a grueling journey.

The Odyssey (Homer)
This famous epic centers around the desire of a weary soldier to return home after years away at battle. Several characters, not only the titular Odysseus, struggle with the changing state of their homes. Odysseus sees home as the ultimate goal of his journey, to return home to his wife, son, and kingdom. Others, however, need not return to their homes, but rather salvage the ideal of home after it has been corrupted.
