In the song Cool Kids, Echosmith uses impactful words and phrases to criticize the "cool kids" in the song. The song is based off a 2 kids wishing that they could be like other kids, who they consider cool, when the narrator believes that they aren't. The artists states that while they are living triumphantly, others are going through tough times without the cool kids knowing. But the cool kids are quick to advance in life without a contrivance or plan. This suggests that the artists believe that they are rude and selfish, not realizing that others don't have the same luxury that they have. Even though they have materialistic things, they jump right into life without thinking about future consequences. Furthermore, another example to illustrate the criticism is "They're invincible and she's just in the background." In other words, they only look out for themselves and other cool kids to stay at the top, not acknowledging the people with the "lower status." The author chose to use the word "invincible" to demonstrate the self-centered and egocentric characteristics of them. In today's society, many people are discouraged by the people whom they consider the " cool kids." Like middle school, trends seem to spread quickly, and so many people want to "fit in" instead of being themselves. When in reality, they are perfect the way they are. Echosmith wanted to inspire millennials to accept and not change who they are. Many are affected by social status and make modifications to themselves instead of recognizing their true potential and perfection.

The characters in the song "cool kids" used words and phrases to show admiration to the cool kids. This song talks about how the "cool kids" are living an enjoyable life while the 2 characters dream about this life. For instance, in the song it says, "Nothing in this world could ever bring them down." This suggests that the characters in this song imagine the "cool kids" as idols and believe that they are perfect. Echosmith also suggests that the characters in this song idolize and admire the "cool kids" when they say, "They all got the same heartbeat, but hers is falling behind." The inference to be drawn from this is that the characters mainly idolize and admire the "cool kids" because the "cool kids" always seem to fit in, while the characters can't. If the characters could fit in and live a "cool kid" lifestyle, they would provide inspiration for people who are going through tough times. In today's society, on social media, people mainly only post the good things happening in their lives. The people who see these posts admire these people because of the success in their "celebrity" lifestyle, and also because of their joyful mood. People also idolize and admire people on social media who post about lavish things because they are going through rough times, just like the characters in the song "cool kids" by Echosmith.

In the song, "Cool Kids" by Echosmith, the artist seems to criticize the "cool kids". The song is about two people that seem about our age, that aren't seen as cool and so they talk about the "cool kids" behind their back. The first line says that they are all in a "straight line" but the girl doesn't believe she should follow another's lead. It seems that they share the same mind because they don't embrace personality and the girl criticizes them for being "hypnotized". Later in the song, the artist states, "They're driving fast cars but they don't know where they're going." This reveals that the cool kids have expensive and nice things but they don't know what to do with them but boast and the main characters don't admire them for this because they don't know what to do with their lives. The artist emphasized criticism in the song to show that being a cool kid may not be the best decision in life because it does not help you develop any skills and you may act "brainwashed" into thinking that others are not important.

Ecosmith in her song ¨ cool kids¨ she seems to criticize the so called ¨cool kids¨. Ecosmith says ¨And they all got the same heartbeat, but hers is falling behind.¨ This shows she is criticizing the cool kids because, she is showing how the kids are not noticing what others are feeling. This is a criticism because shes indirectly showing that they are selfish which is a negative characteristic to have .Ecosmith also says ¨He sees them talking with a big smile, but they haven't got a clue.¨ This shows how the cool kids are not aware of how others are feeling and they are stuck in there own world. Another example of how the ¨ cool kids¨ are being criticized is because Ecosmith says ¨Yeah, they're living the good life, can't see what he is going through¨ This shows how the boy is going through hardships that the other kids are not noticing his pain. This is criticism towards the kids because while they are having fun they are also self adsorbed which is a negative connotation. In conclusion Ecosmith is indirectly criticizing the cool kids because, she is pointing out that everyone thinks they are on a higher rank and that they are almost like idols, but in reality they aren't really good people because they are not noticing what others are going through.
