I have started to promote my homemade custard tarts on social media like Instagram, Whatsapp, Facebook and Wechat. I have created a short and attractive caption for my post which is:

Besides, I have received orders from my first batch of customers which I will bake and deliver them in next week.

3. Your feelings and thoughts
To be frank, I have never thought that I will handle doing online business in my 20's. Everything accomplished by my own. I am so proud of myself and wanted to continue this small business even after this period for elective posting. A new achievement unlocked and I am so grateful and lucky to have my family and friends supporting me in giving comments and opinions towards my idea of start baking tarts. I hope I am able to share this happiness by baking my tarts to those who are placing theirs orders!

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?
I have so many decisions to be made not only during the first week of this EP journey, but struggling also whether is this baking project going to be successful. After deciding baking custard tart to be my EP, I started to believe in myself, being more confident towards my own decision. I learn this skill from my brother who taught me to consider all the problems and issues that I will encounter after making each decisions. By taking those into considerations, I clearly understand which decision is the best for me to determine on and making my work more easier. For instance, choosing the packaging box for fixing my tarts in, either the plastic one or a paper box. I decided to have the paper box as it costs less than plastic box, more attractive, and more environmentally friendly. Since it is only for one time use, I chose paper box in the end,

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
I manage to receive pre-orders one week before the date customers taking their tarts. By doing this, I can purchase all the ingredients required at one time without wasting my time and petrol to go out every single time receiving a new order. I will bake the custard crust one night before the delivery date, making the custard sauce early in the morning. Planning the route to different customers' place and estimating the time I will reach their place. Time management is pretty important here as I need to be on time with the promises I made to customers.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

2. how is your progress?

As I mentioned last week, I already ordered some merchandise from my preferred supplier based on the interest that I got from my customers. I ordered a bit more than that to have some ready stock items. Some of them already arrived to me as shown in the picture above and I’m currently in my packing process, to pack and post out the items that are bought by my customers. For the courier option, I choose JnT since they offer a reasonable price compared to other courier services and it’s located near to my house which makes it easier for me to post out the items. As you can see, I also share picture of the items that already being packed. Other than the packing process, I also continue to promote my business by sharing the posters in my Instagram and telegram channel.

3. Your feelings & thoughts

Throughout this project, I feel kind of nervous and excited at the same time. As I already been receiving some orders from a few customers, I feel happy and excited and therefore looking forward for more orders soon. The thing that makes me nervous is that it is hard to estimate the arrival of the items, it may take a longer time than estimated due to the current situation and the fact that the items are from overseas. So, whenever there is a delay in the arrival I will feel nervous as I need to deal with the customers again asking for their understandings.

4. how did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

Doing business requires a good decision-making skill since it involves a lot of options. I need to make a lot of decisions throughout this elective posting such as which supplier to choose, which courier service is the best, what need to be done to attract buyers and what is the best price I can offer to the buyers. To make the best decision for me and the buyers, I need to do a lot of research by studying a bit regarding the decision that I have to make.

5. how did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

Throughout this elective journey I didn’t do much of anything else so I can focus on my project. I usually get all of my to do list done before the weekend as to enjoy my time on the weekend. I will create a new to do list each and every week to make sure I didn’t miss any important things that I need to do.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

For next week, I would like to continue promoting my product to gain more customers and pack any new orders that I received. Other than that, I would like to start drafting for my final report and e-poster. I will also calculate all my sales that I have to include them in the final report.

2. Your progress so far

I am still filling in tender documents but I was given more responsibility as I now fill in different classes of documents which require more information and the documents itself are thicker. I can key in the prices from different subcons into excel and make sure everything is tally as well. I would say I am doing well, completing every I was assigned to.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

I am really looking forward for this week as I will be attending my first site visit. Finally I got to do something outside the office for once. It is an opportunity for an intern like me because I tagged the company manager to the site instead of my supervisor. I got to learn first hand from him. Site visit means visiting the site for a future project. When a project such as building and maintaining a sport store ( the one I went to) first listed in the eperolehan website, the first step would be for all the potential contractors who are interested in participating the bidding process for the project to go to the site and see for themselves. There will also be a briefing, project plan viewing and q&a session at the site.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

Before even starting the project, I have to decide on what should I do. I can either follow my friends take the easy way of joining online courses or I can do something out of my comfort zone of going to a new environment and actually work. I have to decide if I work, what kind if job should I do, should I work in an office setting, which could be intimidating or to do service work such as working at restaurants. I have to decide how to get to work, for someone who does not drive, I decided to take the time and train myself daily by driving around and overcome my driving anxiety in order for me to do this project.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

I go to work during office hours so I will be back home by 5pm. I have plenty of time to do other things or errands and spend time with my family. I have the saturday and sunday off too so managing time was fine for me as I do not have any other major responsibilities. I can drive now so it makes my daily life more convenient.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

I will continue my current task, help out with converting the pdf document on material prices into microsoft excel so the quantity surveyors can do the actual listing. My supervisor also mentioned she is going to train me on how to purchase the documents online so I can help in speeding the whole process as all the documents has a certain due date to be fulfilled.

2. Your progress so far

I’ve done a google form for anyone who’s interested to place an order. It’s quite challenging as the are some settings that I must do so that it will be easier and more convenient for customers, as well as to avoid any confusion.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

At first, I am nervous to receive any order as I’m afraid I may not be able to achieve customer’s expection. Therefore, I planned to communicate with customers throughout the process, such as reconfirming the order through WhatsApp. By doing this, any misunderstanding can be avoided and hopefully at the same time, I’m able to receive the customer’s trust.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

There are a lot of time when decision making skill is needed throughout this journey. From deciding to start an art business, choosing the best courier service, setting up suitable prices for the artworks and which social media should I use. Often, I will list down any choices or options so that I will be able to compare them visually. After I’ve made any decisions, I would also ask for my family members’ opinion to get others perspective on that matter as well. I want to make sure that every decision that I make will be the most convenient and beneficial for everyone.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

I usually do my work for EP during the night as I’m quite busy during the day with house chore and become an ‘unofficial driver’ for sending and picking up my younger cousins from their school. Besides, to me, night time are more calming and peaceful for me to generate ideas and make the best art as possible. As for the weekend, I would have more time to continue with my EP journey and to sort things out.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

I will continue what I’ve started in week 3, which is receiving orders from customers. Once I’ve done the orders, I will send the finished work as soon as possible to the intended recipient with the help of courier service that I’ve chosen last week. I’m also hoping to get some feedbacks from customers too so that I can improve on what is lacking.

2. Starting the third week of this posting with few orders from my friends and relatives. I received few calls and messages through Whatsapp and Instagram, placing their orders for the cakes. The order duration ends on 3 August 2022. I spent the whole following days making the cakes. Due to the amount of orders, I need to borrow an oven from my aunty so that the cakes can be produced on time. The cakes are then sent out on 5 August 2022. On the weekend, I was busy summing up the amount and calculating the profit.

3. I am feeling pleased and happy of how supportive my friends and family are. This is my first time starting the business and the outcome turns out to be very satisfying. I am thinking of proceeding this business even after this posting and it can be a very good activity to fill up my holidays.

4. Firstly, there are few important decisions I had made throughout this EP journey. The struggles are real especially when it comes to budget and the usage of healthy ingredients. I turned out choosing the healthy ingredients and it does make the profit less but the outcome is good. People tend to buy the cake when I promote them with the healthy facts. During this duration of EP, actually I was offered a part time job in a local pharmacy but I turn the offer down. I think making such decision failed myself to get working experience that is related to medical field. However, I recalled the purpose of this elective posting is to enable us to equip more diverse skills. Therefore, I have no regret on choosing such decision.

5. Beside this week, the first two weeks are relatively simple and relaxing. I utilised most of the evening breaks to do the fundamental preparation during the first two weeks. The time was very sufficing and I have plenty of free times spent with my family. However, on this week, things start to get hectic where I need to collect orders and make cakes. Therefore, I prepared a schedule which help me manage the things to do. I did ask help from my mother when it comes to make large amount of batter. Even so, I still have some free times on the weekend to enjoy myself the holidays.

6. As for the upcoming week, I plan to collect review from the customers and prepare appreciation post for the customers. 2. Your progress so far
I have participated in Amway Family Reunion for 2 days which located at Bangi Avenue Convention Center from 6th until 7th of August 2022. The reason why I joined this event because for me, I have to know very well my circle in this business. I have to know my uplines and the culture of this this business.

There are 4 sessions in total for 2 days. For the first day of the event, the first session is from 1PM until 5PM. The event started with speech by Madam Celia Wong, Crown Ambassador of Amway.

Next, the first speaker who is success in this business is Dr. Zikri, a dentist which is the youngest Diamond in Amway Business. He started this business at 25 years old. Now, he's only 29 years old but he already has more than RM100k income every month. In his speech, he advised us to find more options in life as a backup plan. He said, "1 decision can change 1 life". He taught us how to run this business systematically and he challenged us to beat him to get the title of "youngest diamond". He said, " everything is hard before its become easy" and the famous quote from him is "when the why is clear, the how is more clearer".

There were also a forum during second session which includes 1 moderator and 4 panels. The panels came from different profession background which includes school teacher, medical doctor and businesswoman. They shared their own experiences in this business, their thoughts and a lot of advices and tips that can be very useful for us as a new ABO.

For day 2, the first session started at 9AM until 12.30PM. Then, the last session started from 1.30PM until 6PM. There were 8 speakers in total for day 1 and day 2.

3. Your feelings and thoughts
The first time I arrived at the avenue center, I felt very nervous and I felt very humble. I saw a lot of people which I know there are from different backgrounds with smart and formal attire. The ballroom also very spacious and big. The event was very grand. I felt very shy to communicate to other people because I felt that I am not deserved to be there together with them.

However, my thought was totally wrong. There were very humble and very kind to us. They gave me a lot of advices and motivates me to give my best to this business and never give up.

I was very happy and thankful because I met them physically and have opportunity to talk to them. I hope I can meet them again in future.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?
First and foremost, the decision I made to involved in this business was one of the hardest decision I have made in my entire life. I do not have any business background before this and for me, to make a decision to involve in business with zero knowledge was not easy for me.

My mentor have guided me a lot. He always give me advices based on his own experiences in this business to make I would not making the same mistakes that he have done before. Other than that, he also gave me some tricks and alternative ways to make income from this business.

My mentor, Mr. Clarence are the best mentor for me and teach me a lot in this business especially in decision making. For me, we always need mentor when doing something new in our life to ensure we always on the right track.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
Managing my time throughout this EP posting was not an easy journey. The reason is, besides doing this EP posting, I also working at Superstar Karaoke, Wangsa Walk Mall as a steward for 8 hours minimum. Thus, I spent my time to meet my mentor, ABOs and customers before or after working hours. My off day only once a week. I fulfilled my off day by finding more customers and ABOs. I brought my ABOs once for every week to Amway HQ at Petaling Jaya to meet my mentor. My mentor showed us all the products and taught us on how to make a demo for certain products. Sometimes, I have to take Annual Leave (AL) to make sure I can involve in Amway major functions, so that I can gain more knowledge in this business. For sure, I also have to spend my time with my family. It was not an easy journey for me.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)
For next week, I planned to increase my income by finding more customers and to show the business plan to more people. I really sure this business is the best opportunity to increase our side income and also as our passive income. I have to work harder to build this business and to grow myself. 2) I tried to come out with new dessert, taro cake, but sadly I failed. So, I spent most of my time trying to make new desserts. At the end of the day, zero. I chose to take a break to reflect myself.

3) I felt it is a right choice to take a break to reflect on myself. I was too anxious about the sales, customers' feedbacks and most importantly, make the best dessert to sell.

4) It is totally fine to make mistakes. Everyone is not perfect, sometimes we make the wrong decision in life but we have to willingly accept and carry on.

5) Early in the morning, I prepared my own breakfast and start to bake/prepare my desserts. After lunch, I will deliver the desserts to my customers and get their feedback at night.
