The best part about sociology lectures, personally, was the space that you created - a formal yet friendly, welcoming, and safe space, where we could take a moment out of the stifling suffocation of our houses and think freely, speak freely and challenge several of our conceptions about the world (okay the recording kept an eye on us but still). I am so so so grateful to you for listening and responding to all of us and seeing our opinions and ideas as worth something (except k3g references). While we’ve made several jokes about the sheer internal panic induced by socio lectures, I feel that they helped absolve a lot of confusion, answer a lot of burning questions, and somewhat ease the existential crisis already present :p. (Except your “how is life” in the beginning - the only thing i ever want to respond with is “what is life”). Every second of socio lectures has been fun, may it be listening to you in rapt attention under strict instructions of not confusing ourselves before you’re done explaining, or typing furiously in the chatbox and leaving you with whole conversations to read through!

At the start of the year, I had decided that I wanted to pursue sociology in TY and even further, and two semesters with you later, this idea has been cemented further. I’m so happy you’re going to be teaching us next year too, and I can’t WAIT to be explained theory to using baby analogies 😂😂😂.

I hope we were a fairly memorable first batch. Looking forward to seeing you next year and make more small GIFs to procrastinate reading (i know we meet for end sems first but WE DO NOT TALK ABOUT THAT).

You were more of a best friend than a professor. You made online life much bearable. We were new to college and you were also 'as a professor' . So I think that to an extent helped us to relate at some point and helped us to see and interact with you as an elder sister. Online college was highly depressing but socio lecs were the best and that's because of you. The freedom that you gave us has high value because that was essential for our minds. Thank you for being so chill with us and letting us just rant about life in general in your lectures. And thank god for the recordings accidentally going off hehehe.. But seriously, socio lectures were the most fun, even though I was confused by the end of it. Thank you for making life easier by not giving too much to read and being so patient when we ask too many questions..
On a more serious note, sociology gave me anxiety initially because I had no clue what it included but you made it so much fun and interesting by giving such fun examples. Even if we act like annoying lil kids, we still love you and respect you a lot <3

Honestly, just thanks for making the lectures fun and not being dull? IDK? Like today when you asked the class, "Do any of you frequently visit the dark web?" my cousin brother just stopped and asked for an explanation and I said it's just sociology don't worry, and I am sure there have been (and will be since you're gonna teach in SY) many more such moments. Dear Arpit Ma’am,

YOU ROCK. You’ve made a subject that I avoided in JC and took MATH instead (lmao) so fun, interesting and engaging by being the relatable, witty person that you are. You know how to strike a balance between being a professor and being our friend so perfectly well. I think your lectures are so wholesome for three reasons specifically: 1. The 5-minute chat / rant session at the start of the lecture before everyone joins the meet is a BIG stress buster 2. You ALWAYS read and react to every single message in the chat box no matter how weird / irrelevant it is, which shows that you truly value each of our opinions. 3. Your attendance questions make us think (rather than sit and type PRESENT MAAM in the chat box), which I love.

I still remember our first class with you, where you asked us what our preferred pronouns were and if we’d like to be addressed by them publicly/privately. That's the first time I felt heard and understood by a teacher.

Over this unusual academic year, I have grown to appreciate and respect you by the day. Be it through the way you respond to everyone’s comments or your witty banter/roasts @ us, you’re everything I could have asked for in a professor.

On a serious note though, Ma’am you made me question so many things that I would have accepted as truth without asking why. I’ve understood the importance of learning to ask the why and wherefore of legit everything I’m told which drives my mom mad sometimes hehe. You did warn us that sociology would make us see through a whole new light and sure enough it changed our perspective on a lot of things. The concept of panopticon still gives me the chills as does the fact that sociology and politics controls our every action. I’m sooo glad I got sociology as one of my subjects, and I’m doubly glad to have you as my professor. Without a doubt the most chill, real, approachable, funnn and funny, understanding professor I’ve had. Really grateful to you Ma’am and I hope you teach us again next year! As much as I hate to agree with it, I can clearly see why you mentioned that writing long answers is going to be a pain if we do not get enough practice. Therefore, in interest of saving (your) time, I would like to thank you for the following:

1. For being such a great teacher and keeping the channels of communication always open during the lectures!

2. For always staying back in the meeting post lectures to solve our doubts. I was very unsure and lost in the starting few weeks and just some extra time and the one-to-one explanations helped me a lot with the Introductory unit.

3. For aCciDentALLy stopping the meeting recording just to talk to us one on one. I do not think any other professor would've done that

Lastly, thank you so much for being such an approachable and fun teacher in such an unexpected and unusual year :)

This might across as a shocker but I had moments when I was reluctant to join the socio meetings. Particularly, they were so difficult to absorb or grasp; not throwing shade at your teaching abilities but my own incapability to comprehend it all. But now if you ask, I look forward to socio lectures. It was quite a process tho to calm the anarchy and chaos going on in my head of all the internalised opinions and to question them and cringe over them, realising how dumb and ofcourse the flashbacks are traumatic. But it was only possible because of you and your excellent command over communicating the difficult and jargon-y readings in the most simplistic way. The initial starter pack, intriguing yet weird conversations; prior to every lecture are honestly to die for and yes the sheer amount of knowledge you have about everything is unimaginable and sometimes intimidating tbh. But ofcourse, I've never admired a teacher more other than you and it was rather my privilege to be a part of your first year of teaching.
All my love and regards and yes I hope you keep giving your students the reality checks they need and debunk all their stigmatized existing perspectives.

For an entire year of a subject that has been giving us stimulating confusion and bitter sweet enlightenment, I have to say, you made it a LOT of fun. You have always been approachable and a vibe through the year, and I wouldn't want to do intro to socio any other way.
You handled all of us with patience and jokes and tea and super interesting tangents. I haven't been participating in class as much as I would've like to, but I've thoroughly enjoyed every single lecture.
I am so thankful to for for making socio the one class when you allowed and pushed us to think critically. And thank you for also being a huge support to us non academically.

Dear Ma'am,
Thank you for making socio lecs full of bad jokes but good examples, made the subject so much easier I swear! I looked forward to the start of the class where you talked about no matter what, frankly, even my sister has looked forward to those 5 mins. I am extremely grateful for some lecs where you we just randomly discussed things. Thank you so much for keeping the chatbox active, I have learnt so much from comments on posted their and your opinion about those comments. It's only the 1st year and I have already started to question things, thanks for that as well :)

It was the first time i was learning Sociology, have pre conceived notions about it being boring like any other subject. But it turned out to be one of the most fun class with non-stop banters and sarcastic comments to you always giving us reality checks and hilarious comments in the chat and what not. It was one class I was awake because of all the controversial and interesting discussions we have had . Definitely it is the one lecture I would try my best not to skip and certainly learnt great deal of things which I had no clue about before.
Thank you so much Ma’am for making all the lectures the most engaging they could be ♥️

Dear Ma’am,

From getting smacked in the face with harsh reality in the first 5 mins of every socio class to learning to question what i thought was reality by the end of it, your classes have easily been my favourite. Although the readings and assignments have been slightly confusing (probably should not start them one day before the exam/deadline) you’ve changed the way i see so many things :) Your whole millennial attitude and teaching style makes concentrating in class an unconscious decision. Thank you for acknowledging every answer and doubt we put in the chat box, regardless of how silly they are.
Really hope to have you as a teacher again!
