Obviously, French soccer fans around the globe were beyond excited but what did this victory mean for the country itself? France's victory "incited a restoration of national pride for a country that in recent years has been riddled by terrorist attacks and economic malaise". France will see an additional 10th of a percentage of economic growth due to their World Cup title. The last time France won a World Cup was in 1998, and this victory caused the country to increase their approval of their President at the time by 18 percentage points. President Emmanuel Macron must be especially excited as his popularity is bound to grow. After France won the World Cup, the country, as expected, went wild. Around 100,000 people gathered in front of the Eiffel Tower on Sunday night following the victory. As the night went on, the city gradually became more dangerous as there were two confirmed deaths due to motor vehicle accidents. When fans refused to clear the streets during the middle of the night, the French Policemen were forced to throw fireworks, flares, and smoke bombs at the civilians.
