V Festival use various objectives from the promotional mix in order to promote and encourage ticket sales for their event. For example paying for advertising such as TV adverts and radio adverts. V Festival had their last TV advert in 2010. Since then they have used other types of promotion that they have thought to be more effective and cost less.
For example they have used sales promotion and promotional offers in order to increase sales. They introduced a system in which they offer £42 off(£21 per day) early bird tickets if you purchase when the tickets first go on sale in order to increase sales.
Another form of the promotional mix that V Festival use is public relations which is similar to advertising but it is free. V Festival use this by writing a press release and sending it to newspapers/magazines for everyone to read about. Another form of public relations that they use is playing the music that is on at V Festival live on the radio. For example this year they had a famous DJ from Radio 1 playing at the festival therefore they played her performance on the radio.
V Festival also use sponsorship to promote their event. They can do this by using Virgin Media, their sponsor, to mention V Festival in their advertisements to remind or make customers aware of the festival.
Lastly one of the most common methods V Festival use to promote is social media websites. V Festival have their own accounts on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to promote the upcoming festival. By posting regular updates on the websites this allows people attending the festival to get excited and build up to the event. The atmosphere of it all will also encourage people to buy tickets last minute to avoid missing out.

The brand values and personality of V Festival portrays that they encourage and influence having a purely good time with friends and enjoying great music. The theme of the festival represents happiness, joy and fun with great company and great entertainment. The colours and fonts on the picture below very much represent fun as it is bright and it is influencing celebration which is encouraging happiness. They want to encourage experience as much as they can and enjoying the weekend to the fullest, making the most of the entertainment and music. As you can see from the picture below it very much represents a party with the balloons and the birthday cake, representing that the festival are encouraging the customers to celebrate and have fun.
The target market of V Festival has decreased in age over the years. The acts of the festival are much more recent and people who are in the charts currently amongst a few older artists. Therefore the target audience is around 16-25.

As the London Olympics 2012 was one of the biggest events to take place in England in centuries advertising was extremely important for the event. It was advertised on TV, radio, and by it's sponsors.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3L8zlMfNB0
This link is the official TV advert for the London Olympics 2012 which made it's debut on BBC before the games kicked off. The advert had it's own premier due to the importance of the purpose of the advert.
Another form of promotion the London Olympics 2012 used was their sponsors. The Olympics had over 50 sponsors from various brands and companies. The Olympics used the adverts of their sponsors, such as Coca Cola to encourage the promotion of the event. http://adage.com/article/special-report-the-olympics/coke-s-olympics-ads/304930/
The Olympics will also use direct marketing of their sponsors in order to promote both the product of the sponsor and the Olympics and link it into one. For example if a customer has subscribed to a newsletter such as McDonalds, one of the Olympics sponsors, they could advertise that they have a special menu dedicated to the Olympics and email their customers to update them on the new menu.
One of the most popular methods for promotion is using social media. As the Olympics had their own social media pages on Facebook and Twitter they were able to post updates about such things as updates on the results table and Britain winning medals in order to keep everyone intrigued and welcome more people to like their page.

The Olympics values are known as the following; Friendship, respect and excellence. It is important that the branding for the Olympics portrays their main values. The theme of the Olympics is being united and making your country proud, it is known to bring everyone together as a unit and show support and encourage to all athletes competing in the games.
The logo is a good representative for the values of the Olympics. Yellow is the colour of friendship therefore this explains the colouring within the logo.
The logo overall is quirky, bright and mysterious. It is somewhat a puzzle that you have to intensely analyse in order to work it out. For example it may take a while to notice that the four sections actually make up the numbers '2012'. This makes the logo intriguing and eye catching.
They have also featured an extremely important aspect of the Olympics which would be the famous logo of the Olympics. Just by glancing at this picture you would be able to tell immediately the purpose of the logo.
The target market of the Olympics is everyone of all ages, the Olympics unites everyone together as a family and they all often watch it as a unit as a traditional celebration.
