Overall the interview process was very liberating for me. I felt that it was a great way to get to know my friend Grace's thought process when it comes to hard conversations. I understand how and why she is more closed off about her feelings because she grew up in a household that did not display what they were feeling or thinking with one another. It has made me appreciate the ways in which we all deal with grief and suffering based on our familial unit. It does not mean we do not care...it just means we lack a formal way of expressing our feelings that others would understand. After discussing Grace's experience with grief regarding Big Red, we found our minds drifting off into the future. We started talking about the fact that postgrad we will all be away from one another. We will be faced with the loss of proximity of one another. I plan on going back to Los Angeles, many of my friends plan on staying in Portland a few years, others are sure they are going home to Washington. Knowing that we were lucky enough to find our friends within one week of freshman year is incredibly rare. Finding and maintaining friendships you have in college are equally important to us because we hear older people talking about their experiences/friends/partners in college all the time. As friends and college students, we are constantly reminded to cherish this time in our life by the people surrounding us. The pressure that comes with that, is the inevitable fear that I will never have this experience again once we graduate. Grace and I both expressed the fear of grieving one another being so close and available all the time. Furthermore, making friends as adults is incredible hard and we are terrified to relive our experience of not having friends in our hometown again. Finding people you truly care about, can connect with, and unconditionally love is so hard and I never thought I would experience it until I came to college and found my beautiful and amazing friends. The inevitable feeling of knowing a big shift is going to happen is scary and acknowledging that now, has made us realize we need to ensure we live in the present as much as we can!

the sky changes everyday. no cloud ever looks the same. every sunset is slightly different than the one before. the moon shares a new part of herself with us every night as she goes through her phases. the sky never seems to grieve the constant changes happening around itself, rather it embraces it. every night and morning new colors, shapes, and weather patterns are shared with the inhabitants of Earth. i aspire to have the bravery, confidence, and adaptability that the sky does every single say when it comes to facing change in our lives. although, i am able to understand change is inevitable, i still find myself fighting it. what would it look like for me to just let go? maybe i can learn from the sky...?
