August 6, 1961

It is my first day in space and there is not much to do up here. Command says I am supposed to spend a full day in this capsule so I decided to try to steer it a bit. I could not move it to far because I might get out of Earth's orbit or get pulled back to the surface. I was hoping that I would be writing this weeks ago and being the first man in space instead of the second. I am just as qualified a Yuri but I became a backup. Time for a few hours of doing nothing, I might as well find something to do around here.

August 6, 1961

I finally got some sleep and I think I sleep for around 8 hours, but it was not pleasant. When I closed my eyes a wave of sickness came over me quite like how you feel when you get car sick but a bit worse. I found out that if I stayed as still as possible that I could actually get some sleep. My guess the cause of the nausea is my body is trying to deal with the weightlessness and the high speed of the craft. If command back on Earth knew about this sickness they would pull me back before I can complete my mission, so I will hide it from them and see how well that goes. Almost at the 24 hour mark and and I will be the first man to spend a whole day in space.

August 6, 1961

I decided to take some pictures of Earth as planed but I might be hard to get the timing right and make sure the window is facing Earth. I finally took the pictures but they are all blurry due to the speeds of the capsule. I don't know the place where the picture I took were because it is blurry as stated before. I think I am on the 13th orbit of the planet and I thought I saw United States with all of it bright lights on the sea boards. I also realized something else I am also the youngest human in space. I think I am going to try to get some sleep and hope for the best.
