Every year the whole school ran a 3km route through the back of the school, beyond the back field, and down the south side. It was daunting, exhausting, and a lot of fun!!

I attended Moodie from 1998-2000. I have so many fond memories from Moodie, but what really left a mark were the amazing teachers that I met along the way. Mr.V, Mrs.Hall and Denis Landry are a few teachers who have had a lasting impact on my personal life and my career as a teacher.

The Musicals

I loved being part of the musicals. It was a great way to make friends and have fun. I still have fond memories of after school rehearsals and performing for the feeder schools.

It was so many years ago but one of the best teachers I ever had really made an impact. Susan Hay was a nurturing and thoughtful teacher who put her students first. I can truly trace my theatre background to those early days. Years later after graduating from theatre school I ran into Ms Hay and had the opportunity to thank her once more.

My second year as a new teacher to the Carleton Board of Education and I was interviewed and got a half time position. I just loved working at DA Moodie, great staff and admin too! The surrounding greenbelt became my science classroom for Grade 6 in the spring. Many fond memories indeed.

I've had 3 kids go to D.A and still have our hoodies! A personal highlight for me was having Alanis Morissette s father teaching my son. Couldn't help but sharing with him how much I love of her music which completely embarrassed my son. Win win!

Flag Football..

My fondest memory was our legendary Moodie Flag Football team led by Mr.V in 2004. We came out on top in regionals and we went on to represent Ottawa at the Grey Cup for Nationals!!

The Golden years at D.A Moodie was 2003-2005. We dominated every sport (Basketball,Volleyball,Football) and banners are still hung up! Everyone knew the moodie boys couldn't be touched. Big shout out to Mr.V & Mr.Charrette , I could never forget what they did for us..

DA Moodie brings back so many memories. I also attended Moodie from 1998-2000 - Grade 6 to 8 are such influential years and I had countless memories with close friends that still remain close in my life. A few things that stick out most are school plays & dances as well as my amazing teachers:

In the late 1970s CFRA had a contest; the winning school would win a trip to Skateway the indoor Rollerskating Disco. All you had to do was send in your school's name on a piece of paper. The school that sent in the most won. Of course D.A.M was very quick to write and we won!!!

Dressing up for twin day with Mrs Warren. Her with a bald head and me with blue eyeliner and clip on earrings.

Co-teaching with Mrs. Warren. I think we would have more fun then the students.

O-week was such a great way to get the students back into school life and allowing the new grade 6s to adjust to middle school life.

Me killing myself laughing at Mr MacEwen's jokes and nobody else in the class understanding them.

It was a very diverse school which added to my knowledge and life. Moodie was a small school and you knew every student by name.

Mme Fuisz yelling at me through the moveable walls rather then walking over to my classroom.

O-week was always a fun week! Especially at the end of the week when we were put into mixed grade groups. The best activity was dunk the teacher and pies in their faces!

Dances In the Horse Shoe

Every Friday, all the classes in the horse shoe would come out and dance during the last 15 mins of class. I still remember the dances XD

Rockin it from the stage with the best musicians I've ever played with! I felt privileged to play with this evolving group of students (and teachers) from year to year! I'll always remember "CRAZY TRAIN"!!! I hope all the students I once played with will mention us in their grammy award-winning speeches! Free VIP tickets for all future tours, perhaps?

Our son had the opportunity to participate in the Peter Pan (2015) and Shrek (2017) Musicals. These were great experiences for him and the other students and fun to watch! We are grateful to all the teachers, volunteers and fellow students who put in so much time to make those events happen!

My first teaching position

My first position as a Core French teacher in 1979 led to teaching Late French Immersion to some of the finest students I have ever taught. In 1982 I took my class to St-Georges de Beauce for a French language exchange program which was very memorable. I have a lot of terrific memories of teaching at Moodie.

I remember the creek and how we used to take those little red sticks from the cheese and crackers packages and have races with them at lunch and recess. Also those incredibly long runs around the fields through the forest, and some teachers : Mr Watts, Mr Alexander - a great school and time - you will be missed!

The day the we had both the Spice Girls and Kiss show up for an event.

Staff dropping by the library for a quick visit and a chat. Miss that sooo much.

My first memory of DA Moodie was when I was in Grade 8 myself and visiting DA for a soccer tournament. As a new school, it was impressive, and way out in the boonies! Never did I imagine that decades later, my own kids would attend DA.
Hats off to the dedication of all of the teachers for all that you have done for all of the kids over the years, not to mention my three.

Living on a farm in Osgoode, DA Moodie was the closest French Immersion School. I traveled 1.5 hrs to and from school daily - but worth every minute. Grade 8 at Moodie was the best of my grade school years - loving friends, and caring teachers. I received a book prize at the year end assembly, and yes, I still have it 34 years later.

A favourite memory will always be that of hearing excited students speaking in their mother tongue and sharing their cultural traditions in a respectful way. Such amazing diversity stems in this school that were celebrated in many ways.

I just did the 8th grade here. For all my life I’ve been locked up and abused at home and this place help me understand that it is not okay. I asked for help. I found confidence in myself thanks to this place. Thank you to everyone who helped me be the women I am today, for keeping me safe. I am in absolute tears that this place has shut down. I used to imagine that I would one day have kids and put them in this school. Thank you DA for welcoming me home with open arms and preparing me for the real world. Thank you so much.

I attended D.A between 2008-2010 and truly loved the school and classes. A few of my friends from grade 6 are still my closest friends now. I wish I could reconnect with Mr. Charette and Mr. Slater to say thank you for making grade 6&8 truly enjoyable. I will mever forget how often Me.Chartte took us outside to play soccer, and how Mr. Slater showed us the true meaning of tough love. I learned different things from both, but it sure shaped me into the person I am :) I hope they see this and know they're forever appreciated

i only came to spend a year in canada in 2016-2017 and i was in grade 6 in mr.charette's class (6B) he was such an amazing teacher supported me and believed in me all the way to the end whether in sports or in other classes. I had really wonderful memories in da.moodie , that year holds a very special place in my heart. I joined the basketball team that year too ,i loved training with the team,and i worked really hard to get into it with the support of madam deon (i love her) .i really miss those days and i am grateful for all the memories.
