The preview is a substantial undertaking for students in the theatre program. Students choose and cut the preview scenes, select faculty to play each role, dress the faculty, and provide insight and tips for each teacher. This year, I decided to immerse myself in a less familiar art -- costuming. I, along with my team, were responsible for the selection of each teacher's outfit. The fall preview is incredibly collaborative. My efforts as a costumer required me to work with a team, which I enjoy. But that may not be the case for everyone. Theatre in itself is collaborative, with both other people and your surrounding environment. The preview served as a chance for students to productively practice their collaboration skills.

Interestingly, I found the faculty performances in our preview to be very inspiring. Every teacher was incredibly present onstage, making their lines seems natural. Natural. I always aspire to be seen as a character, not an actor, when I'm onstage. I play Marmee in the show, and I intend to work to project a natural and nurturing role during my scenes.

The fall preview is famously a joy for faculty actors (as seen above), and students in the audience love to watch the selected scenes take place! We were proud and pleased to work with and present our Academy Award-tier faculty members to the upper school.
