The French relied on enslaved people to keep their economy going, they imported 800, 000 enslaved people (almost double the number of those in North America).
From 1791 through 1804, enslaved people and their allies in Saint-Domingue fought for their freedom.

The Biden Administration has continued using Title 42, even though he had mentioned he wouldn't in his campaign.

They also gained complete control over Haitian finances, and the right to intervene in Haiti whenever the U.S. Government deemed necessary.
They intervened in Haiti's politics, forced the election of a pro-American president even though it went against what the Haitians wanted.
It also led to the creation of a military force made up of U.S. citizens and Haitians, but controlled by the U.S. This military force tried enforcing policies such as racial segregation, press censorship, and forced labor.
