4.) A reality-altering event has occurred. The world we once knew is now entirely changed. All matter has seemingly been reconstructed in similar, but different ways than our current universe. Cold is now hot, and hot is cold. Certain objects and substances are now intangible, and vice versa. Your legs have been mangled into a distorted, fleshy mess. Or not. It depends on the week. Some report seeing beings with glowing wings, floating in the distance. Others have developed strange new powers some may call supernatural. Most have died, though; objects have been moved into each other, and millions have died from suffocation by fusing into objects such as clothing or furniture. You now travel a lonely world filled with broken, liminal spaces and new, confusing laws of physics, trying to uncover the cause for, and perhaps fix the events that have unfolded.

Monday.
The ground around my feet glows a pale blue as I step toward the bathroom, or what once was the bathroom. The room has completely flipped on its head and pieces of wood jab out of the floor. I slide my body between pieces of wood, trying to reach the sink to brush my teeth. I remember when the constant habits, like my morning routine, had seemed so monotone to me, when I longed for something exciting. Mom told me I was too naive, too unwilling to settle for what I had. Gosh, that seems like ages ago. She's gone now, melded into the walls of the house. One day, I saw her and the next, the baby pink walls of the kitchen were a swirl of black from her outfit, tinted with the shades of her face.

4 - What happens when a world grows ill?

What happens when a world grows ill? Its skin becomes a pale gray, sickly, and loose from the waste of man. Its eyes become bloodshot and opaque, blind from the terrors and violence which reside afront it, like a confused lamb to the gaping maw of the hungry wolf. Its ears become deaf and filled with pus, and the screams of the fallen and the martyrs become unheard. Its once robust muscles loosen, and it struggles to hold the weight of the sins of the world, crushed under the weight of it all, the gravity of it. Its legs grow weak and it becomes bound to injustice, unable to stand up against the forces of the mighty. And its heart becomes filled with the blackest plaque, and becomes impaled with holes as dark as evil, as blood gushes out mercilessly and meaninglessly, void of all. Only then does humanity notice what happens when a world grows ill; it dies. And when a world dies, when the vultures of death come and peck at its corpse, and the ghouls of the underworld feed upon its once valiant soul, when its shadow becomes stretched out across the ground and meets its body, ready to enter hell as one, when tiny specks cry invisible tears and shout silent calls for help on the last vestiges of a world consumed by itself, humanity learns of its transgressions far too late, and the final word of the final human on the final second of existence becomes forgotten.

It wasn't the first time this had happened to me, my mother having called it star vision... whatever the hell that means. I used to convince myself that those days were just dreams, that I simply had a vivid imagination, but as it occurred more and more frequently I grew more content with it. When my mother was alive she used to beg me to keep these visions a secret. It grew harder when she passed and I had to find an occupation. How does one hide seeing bright colors and shapes and a lack of vision when you have work in the morning and one and a half mouths to feed? The half is my cat Herbert... I can see him through the colors. I'm convinced he's magic, but my mother said he was a manifestation of my own delusion.
