Strategy: Conduct board

I have attached an example of a conduct board. This classroom management strategy is an example of a school wide implementation procedure. This behavior management tool depicts the students weekly conduct grade. It also plays as an incentive. Every student starts on a 100 on Monday (or at the beginning of the week) and pulls a slip for misbehavior. At the end of the week, the teacher will record the grade and submit it into the grade book. The students are allowed to put their slip back up to a 100 Friday afternoon.

Strategy: Attention cues
Example: An attention cue or attention "getter" would be things such as clap or a cue like, "class class", which then the class would respond with "yes yes".
How it works: These work as a procedure that reinforces attention, and engages the students.
Why: Teachers would use this strategy during high volume noise levels, or to just simply get their kiddos attention for an important announcement. I use this procedure in class to grasp my students attention in class.

Strategy: Enforce classroom policies
Example: Enforcing classroom policies is a procedure in and of itself, but ensuring that you as the teacher enforces them consistently is a job alone. Enforcing policies like bathroom, and water signs is an example of this management tool.
How it works: Enforcing these classroom signs will ensure that students are acting independently, but with guidance. The teacher will enforce designated signs for things such as going to the bathroom, or getting a drink of water.
Why: This management tool is especially helpful when a teacher is doing guided reading, or is working with a student one on one.

Strategy: Positive reinforcement
Example:
How it works: "Reinforcement is a stimulus that follows and is contingent upon a behavior and increases the probability of a behavior being repeated" (CEHD, 2016). Using positive reinforcement in the classroom gives the student an incentive for good behavior. It is a great behavior management to use for all aspects in the classroom. From behavior, to academia, to stamina.
Why: Teachers could use this behavior management strategy to engage kids, and act as reinforcer for good behavior.

College of Education and Human Development.

Strategy: Praise
Example: Giving praise to your students works similar to positive reinforcement. When a teacher notices a student doing something they shouldn't, find a student who is demonstrating the desired behavior, and praise them for it. This will highlight the behavior that you are wanting from your student (Boschen, n.d.).
How it works: If you see a student portraying poor behavior in the classroom, and a student who is doing what they are supposed to be doing or following your instructions, praise them. It will act as a reinforcer, by reinforcing the desired behavior in the students.
Why: A teacher would use this behavior management strategy to gage the students behavior to the desired behavior.

Boschen, J.
