-They both have a clinical or organisational governance standard whereby they are working within a framework that has a large organisation that guides the workers in the delivery of care based on most evidence based research. This guides the healthcare workers and managers to deliver safe and high-quality care. 
- Consumers are considered in both sets of standards. This means the idea of partnering with patients is expanding and will hopefully lead to improved patient experiences within healthcare.
- comprehensive care & services and support for daily living is similar in that it encompasses a holistic approach to delivering care to the patient.
Differences:
- The NSQHSS specifically focuses on common care delivered within a hospital setting, where it looks at HAI, medication safety, blood management and acute deterioration recognition and response; however the ACQS do not focus on these areas. I like the four critieria: governance, leadership and culture; patient safety and quality systems; clinical performance and effectiveness; safety environment for the delivery of care. They say it so clearly and do not mice words. Be safe, implement strategies to improve patient care, be responsible and reliable, take feedback.....
The aged care framework was what I had originally seen in the last section and was very helpful in realising how an organisation can begin to write standards. It set out clearly how to write: introduction, clinical governance--what your goals are and who does what, plans to implement, measures of success, regular reviews. I can see why the Government wrote the framework. It was very helpful. It set me on a direction. The disability standards was less relatable to me because it was entirely patient focused, which makes me sound selfish, but it was perfect to direct those whop care for people with disabilities, but also to empower those less able-bodied individuals. It had sections that focused on person choice and support, encouraging family involvement and allowing patients to take risks. Having faith in a person's ability is empowering and all we all ask for. It fulfills its task.

The Aged Care Quality standards focuses more on maintaining the dignity and independence of aged care residents. It is more personal-centred as it encompasses standards that promote quality care among aged care residents. It is more centred on promoting independence on personal care and choices, on how they prefer they day-to-day living and how to maintain their safety in the environment.

The NSQHS standards are more focused on delivering safety and quality in hospital level. It encompasses safety and delivery in medication administration, prevention of AEs and safety administration of blood products, recognition of deterioration among patients and a system of clinical governance.

A similarity among these 2 standards is the inclusion of the aged care resident/patient in the health management where one is viewed as a partner in care.

NCQSHC standards are more detailed.  Both standards are concerned with the patient being at the centre of care; safety and quality of care; that there is a governance framework for improving safety/quality, complaints procedure and qulaity measurement.
