"This morning I saw you looking over the hedge that divides Animal Farm from Foxwood. One of Mr. Pilkington's men was standing on the other side of the hedge. And I was a long way away, but I am almost certain I saw this, he was talking to you and you were allowing him to stroke your nose."



Mollie was seen by Clover talking to a man near Foxwood farm and she allowed him to pet her and feed her sugar as well as give her ribbons. She did not work so she did not really mind breaking it anyways and left never to be seen after a few weeks. This was the first time we actually see some rebellion among each other.

Napoleon broke this when he used 9 dogs to chase Snowball out of the farm because he did not want him to be respected. This changes everything because there is no rivalry now so Napoleon can do whatever he wants without anyone stopping him.

The pigs including Napoleon took residence in the farmhouse that they declared no animal shall live in. This further proves that the animals are not equal because the pigs get to live in comfort in the farmhouse and the other animals live in the barn.

The pigs started to live in the farmhouse and live in the beds which were against the commandments however when they try to read the commandments someone had changed it. This creates tension between the animals and a sense of unfairness.

Napoleon took his 9 dogs and dragged 4 pigs to the front and killed them for their "crimes." More animals confessed to their crimes and were killed. This changes the whole book because the animals are starting to realize what is happening. They did not want a world where they live in fear of being killed. They wanted to live in a world where all animals do the same amount of work and are happy.

Napoleon was wearing one of Mr. Jones's hat which is considered a piece of clothing. He was doing this because he was drunk meaning he broke 2 commandments. This was the first time anyone was caught wearing clothing.

It may seem like the pigs just found whiskey but later that night they were described as being drunk doing acts like running around wearing a hat, singing Beasts of England and did not wake up at all the next morning. Napoleon was also very ill afterwards and Squealer was seen trying to repaint the commandments, again.
