I made this painting a little based on nature. I put in a cactus plant, a plastic water bottle, and ink in the colors of orange, magenta, purple, and rose. I actually painted the cactus based on a real life one, which is why the spines are white-yellow. The plastic water bottle is a reminder that water is an important resource to humans. The ink is an inspiration of the video game franchise "Splatoon", where ink is all kinds of colors and can be splattered everywhere. This painting as a whole is to show you that I like nature very much.

My project was inspired by a variety of things. My last name means "Son of the Bear" and I've always enjoyed bears as a subject so I felt an imaginary bear skull would act is a good anchor for my painting. The berries are from a plant that grows in my backyard, the name of the it escapes me though. The book is called, "On Love and Other Fables" by Tea and it was the book my best friend gave me a few weeks before she died, it still has folded pages that indicated her favorite passages and it means a lot to me. The skull was the hardest thing for me to do since it's so specific with angles and how it reflects light.

My painting was inspired by the things my mom loves, I wanted to paint all the things she enjoys from the flowers that remind her of my brother Brandon who passed away, to the wine that she loves and drinks on a hard day. To the butterflies that represent change, and the One thing that is very strong in our house hold is our religion, the Cross of Christianity. The strength of my painting I would say would be the flowers up front and the yellow/orange mixed background. The most challenging of my painting would be the foreground. I really had trouble finding a color that would bring the piece together to match will every color. I would love to continue this painting and make it better, I would love to improve on making things look more realistic, and the blending of different colors.

When I was about 5 years old, I saw a goblin. When I tell people this with a straight face, they laugh out loud. It is true, I (in my 5 year old mind at least) saw a true to life 1ft tall goblin... and then it disappeared. My painting was inspired mostly by sticking with the theme, secondly by the goblin who graced me with it's presence, thirdly by Henry Fuseli's "The Nightmare", and lastly by tiny "off" things. I haven't painted many plants so this was a challenge and I got to step outside my comfort zone. The flower is inspired by the beautiful genus Tacca or the "Bat Flower". If I could go back and start over, I'd make the plant look more batty and less like the photo.

I closed the spider plant because it is my favorite plant because you could have it in a pot or hang it on a wall which also looks like a spider. I decided for my imaginary item to be arrows because i love how you could start from one direction and turn them into loops and however they will always go to the destination you are wanting. As for my possession, i chose a pearl necklace. Pearl necklaces are so beautiful even when the pearls are black & because i learned that pearls are made just from sand which makes them even more wonderful!
At first, my clouds were just basic clouds, but i decided to outline them to make them pop like in a comic book which turned out to be great!

My painting was inspired by things that define a small part of who I am. The plant symbolizes the innocence within me that still believes blowing on a dandelion will make a wish come true. The crushed Coca Cola can symbolizes an addiction to caffeine, and the giraffe hummingbird symbolizes my two favorite animals fused together. The strength of my painting was the blending, I love how appealing to the eye the transition of dark to light colors look on my creature's head. The most challenging part of my painting was the soda can, it was difficult trying to make the can look round and pointed at the same time using shading and light reflections. I would love to continue trying to make the grass look more realistic by using a more fine haired brush.

The Guiding Grim of Spirits & Time

This artwork is based on a story I wrote when I was younger about a time traveling grim reaper that guide the spirits to their next life. The scythe can change shape depending on the need of the reaper. In this art piece it is shaped as a guiding light, with the spirit following closely behind so they don't get lost in time. The portable scroll that you see hovering is a map/ check list/ ID for the reaper and spirit. the strength of this painting is the blending of colors and story telling. The most challenging part was not using the color black, the grim reaper is known to wear black so I had to improvise with other colors. I want to improve the look of this artwork, its fair from the vision in my mind with my current art style/ skill level. It still a nice art piece overall.

I was inspired by my faith as a Christian for this painting. I tried to make it known with the bible in the middle of the painting. I used the roses with thorns as an example of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. the bloomed rose at the top of the thorns represents the beauty of Jesus and everlasting life with Him. I painted the serpent trying to get to the rose but he can't because of the thorns which means that satan can't take away our salvation. I made the roses on the left to try and resemble a cross shape. I also later added the curtain to make the rose pop out and to add something to the painting.

I just wanted to create something that literally came to mind once the project was introduced to us in class. I am really proud of myself for how it turned out in the end. Could it be better, of course but i am still happy with it. The most challenging thing about this was figuring out the possession i wanted to use that in this painting that wouldn't blend into the background. The thing i would change would maybe to leave more room for myself to paint or even draw out the objects in place before painting instead of one by one.

My painting is basically something completely out of my mind. I was not inspired by anything in particular except maybe the chrysanthemums, they are my birth flower and also my favorite flower. I changed my character from the mushroom man to a snail because I felt like the mushroom man was too “cutesie” for what I was going for in the first place. The colors I chose go extremely well together and I tried my best to use them to my advantage and create a lot of balance throughout the entire thing.

So I wanted to use a prickly pear cactus as the plant for my still life as well as this goldlen yellow cap that was gifted to me by someone special. I wanted to use colors that would go well beside each other like orange, red, green, and yellow but I'm sorry for not being able to make a background on time. I'm really proud of how it turned out as it was my first time painting seriously, and I hope to get better with time.
