- Responsible for the health care of England, northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

- At the top 5 of the words largest work forces along with the US department of defence, McDonalds, Walmart and the Chinese people's liberation army.
- Provides services such as, pharmacy, dentistry, GPs, A&E, and other urgent care services. 
- The NHS encourages people to improve their health and care, have greater control over their health and wellbeing, be supported to live longer, lead healthier lives by high quality health and care services that are compassionate, inclusive and constantly improving. 
- The NHS is provided to anyone living in the UK without being asked to pay the full cost of the service. This is due to UK residents paying tax.
- It includes doctors, nurses, surgeons, ambulance drivers, opticians, paramedics, midwifes, psychologists and others who's job it is to make sure people stay health

-PHE aim to improve public health by setting up campaigns and are responsible for ACT FAST and Change4life which are commonly used and are successful.
- PHE has also launched campaigns to stop smoking.

  • making the public healthier and helping the government to do so.
  • protecting the nation from public health hazards;
  • preparing for and responding to public health emergencies;
  • improving the health of the whole population by sharing their information and expertise, and identifying and preparing for future public health challenges;

PHE aims to improve the quality of life of the public through the prevention and treatment of disease.

They are responsible for encouragement, regulation and enforcement of work place health, safety and welfare. 
HSE carry out risk assessments and management. Risk management is about taking practical steps to protect people from real harm and suffering. 
The benefits of good health and safety include:
- reduced costs

-lower employee absence
-fewer accidents

HSE investigates industrial accidents, small and large.
They help businesses to understand what they need to do to assess and control risks in the workplace and comply with the health and safety law.

The Food Standards Agency is responsible for food safety and food hygiene in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It works with local authorities to enforce food safety regulations and its staff work in meat plants to check the standards are being met.
The FSA also has responsibility for labelling policy in Wales and Northern Ireland, and for nutrition policy in Northern Ireland.

The Agency was created in 2001 based on a report by Professor James, issued after several high-profile outbreaks and deaths from foodborne illness.
UK Government department, the Food Standards Act gave the Agency the statutory right to publish the advice it gives to Ministers.
The FSA pushed for stricter rules on TV advertising to children of foods high in salt, sugar and fat and devised a nutritional profiling system to measure the balance of benefit and detriment in individual food products.
In June 2006, the FSA conducted an advertising campaign on British television, highlighting the danger of food poisoning caused by barbecues. The advert, intended to shock viewers, shows sausages sizzling on a barbecue, looking to the viewer as if they are cooked. However, when a pair of tongs pick up one of these sausages, it falls apart, and reveals pink, uncooked meat in the middle.

The aim is to promote integrated care where appropriate.
This organisation works by making recommendations for individuals on activities, policies and strategies which may be used to help prevent disease or improve health.  
This guidance tends to focus on are smoking, a particular population ( e.g. schoolchildren) or a particular setting ( e.g. the workplace) 
From NICE'S own guidance, quality standards help to measure priority quality improvements within in a particular area of care.
