Now that we are several weeks into learning digitally, it is time to think about making a final project for your reading. Your goal right now is to plan how much you should be reading daily in order to finish the book with enough time to complete the final project.

Project Specifics:
- As a change from last semester, you only need to submit one book/project due to the modifications of this semester.
- See this link for ideas/options:
https://sites.google.com/site/mrscushingsenglish/independent-reading-elearning
- Final projects must be turned into Mrs. Cushing by May 15th at 5pm in Teams. You will turn in on the Independent Reading Assignment. Do not email the work to me or put it in your folder. It needs to be in Teams.
- Project is a Summative Grade. If you are trying to get your grade up for the semester, this is THE BEST WAY YOU CAN DO IT.
- If you would like to have a book conference with me, you need to schedule a Zoom with me. If it is performance-based, you can record yourself in Zoom, save it, and then submit it. Let me know if you need help.

How? You will be keeping a weekly journal of what it’s like being alive at this pivotal time in history. Once a week, you will turn in three journal entries from life in social isolation. Think about all the teenage journals/writing that have shed light on important eras in history: Anne Frank, Malala Yousafzai, Ishmael Beah, etc. Plus, you will definitely want these later when you’re older and our world goes back to normal.

This week you can continue to document your daily life, the changes you’ve noticed, or the feelings you’re experiencing. OR you may:

1. Watch a movie and review the movie—would you recommend it or not? Why?

2. Take a nature walk or a walk in your neighborhood. Use your five senses to observe and describe the world around you.

3. Do a guided meditation and reflect on it afterwards (if you are unfamiliar, read the first Article of the Week “How to Meditate.”) Did it work or not?
