From that I feel like Ishmael is trying to say that humans are almost like living in captivity wherever they are from. For example, today in our generation especially teens and young adults, we were raised with technology that were really big improvements from what it was in the 90's. So from having all this technology, it makes it easier to cheat on exams or assignments for school. It is as simple as just asking your peer to send you their copy of their homework and you would just change little things. This is called plagiarism which can lead to expulsion and other consequences that can affect your life. Another idea about technology, is that us humans are involved high risks of safety and privacy while on it. For example on the internet, people especially can have their information hacked that can lead to a lot of horrific things, like theft of your money on credit cards and stalkers.
