Details of a game you might use them for and what the potential game objective might be: There will be two copies of each card/piece of clothing. The children will play the game in pairs. The cards will be shuffled upside down in a deck. They will each pick five cards from the deck. They must ask the other person the question ‘An gcaitheann tú hata?. If the pupil has the ‘hata’ card they will say ‘Caithim hata’. If the pupil does not have the ‘hata’ card they will say ‘Ní caithim hata’. If the pupil has guessed the item of clothing correctly then they take that card from the other pupil. Each item of clothing can only be guessed once. This game will allow children to use the vocabulary associated with the topic of éadaí. They will also ask and answer uestions, working with the present tense of the verb ‘caith’.

Class level: Rang a Sé
Vocabulary being reinforced: An bhfuil? Tá/Níl, ard, beag, donn, dubh, rua, fionn, ceoltóir, peileadóir, aisteoir, sárlaoch, srl.

Game objective (remember to draw on pupil needs and PLC): The objective of the game is to increase the childrens confidence in asking and asking questions using the verb Tá.

Game rules: One child will be asked to come to the front of the class and they will choose a picture of a famous person/character. The rest of the class will raise their hand and ask questions about the person. 'An buachaill tú?'. The pupil must then answer 'Tá/Níl'.The class must ask questions about the person/characters appearance until the class have enough information to guess correctly.

2. The benefit you see in using the selected game

The children will be asked to ask and answer questions as part of the 'Cloigeann Cé Mé' game, using the language associated with the Mé Féin topic. The game can be simplified by showing a certain number of people/characters on the interactive whiteboard. The children can also be given a list of questions which can be differentiated to suit each pupils ability. For example, some pupils may not need a list of questions to ask while others will need it.
