If a template is created with images placed alongside videos, weblinks, tweets, and traditional text, one is able to develop their thoughts from an ecology of ideas and modes of knowledge production. I found Padlet to be an instrumental tool in that it speaks to the interlinked ways in which ideas generate and stem from each other, rather than speaking to a hierarchy of knowledge systems. One can use it as an organizational tool to incorporate sources, an assignment sheet, key words, questions and more about a paper or project all in one easy to reference space. Students can collaborate on a page in or outside of class. If they are assigned a project, using a Padlet template would be a great resource to generate ideas and give each other feedback. If a student proposes a line of inquiry, a peer could suggest investigating an applicable link or article they might have read by posting it to the page or within a comment. An instructor can also use Padlet in meaningful ways to engage a class in discussion. Within a larger class, small groups can delve into a concept together and then each share their ideas onto one template page visible at the front of a classroom or on a screen. If the page remains open for students to access, they can reference the collaborated thoughts on a subject at any time. An instructor can use a template to gather helpful resources for students to reference throughout the course, including imbedding links and relevant webtexts.

Moreover, it speaks to the circulation of ideas and the ways in which all concepts build and alter relationally. It was my intention to engage them further in the ways in which it might be a useful tool outside of the activity, but I felt like my approach was not very convincing or detailed enough to explain how they might use the templates in a meaningful way. I was hoping to discuss how they could also collaborate together outside of class using a template to discuss and share ideas, but left this detail out too I think. I hope students enjoyed seeing what others were posting, but I meant to also try to engage with the posts in a more interactive way to create discussion about the topic.  

Because one can only use three Padlets at a time with the “free” plan, using Padlet as a pedagogical resource has its limitations. If an individual wishes to engage with Padlet as a resource, they need to sign up for a monthly payment. This necessarily reduces the accessibility of the tool.

By having students sign up for their own Padlet accounts, it was my intent that they would be able to explore the available features in a hands-on, interactive way. As students accessed the site, I wanted  to ask them to consider the rhetorical features at play to indicate the importance of thinking critically about the spaces we engage with day to day. 

In posing a question about the way language use changes in online spaces and with circulation of ideas, I wanted to engage students in thinking about how a multiplicity of voices can work alter certain value systems. By seeing each others’ responses on the board, I hoped that ideas would inflect each other and continue to develop as they appeared. The exercise was intended to depict the relationality of ideas, concepts, texts, and to show how using Padlet can be a resource through which students can engage with others in a collaborative way.

I did not fully explore how to arrange posts on different design platforms, or how to adjust what is displayed so that all of the posts are visible at one time. To try to explore with the collaboration features I created a second account, but did not thoroughly investigate how to have others arrange posts or how students might engage with each others' posts besides adding comments. I thought the site was pretty user-friendly overall, but I did also think the "literature" or maybe other template resources on the site are a bit limited in scope.
