From experience I say maybe because when I first got my dog she was very shy and seemed a little frighten. The first couple of night were rough because when it was time to go to bed she would cry non stop. Almost like you seemed to be lost. We showed her that we will love her and comfort her so she wouldn't be scared. Then eventually she got used to us and is happy.
