The National Reading Panel was developed to take an in-depth look at teaching children to read. Their findings indicate that there are specific components that are essential to be incorporated into effective reading instruction. Additionally, research supports the use of multi-sensory instruction as an effective approach to teaching students with learning disabilities and/or dyslexia. Discuss the essential components of reading that have been reported by the National Reading Panel and explain how multisensory instruction can be used to teach each component. Explain how an effective teacher can incorporate the essential reading components and the use of multisensory instruction to meet the needs of struggling readers.
