She loves Enrique and wants him to be happy. Maria Isabel also wants him to find his mother, but she does not want him to leave her. Maria Isabel provides Enrique with the things he wants from her so she will continue to love him and not make the journey to America. Enrique goes through the story being dropped by his friends and family yet, Maria Isabel continues to love him. Maria Isabel wants a family with Enrique and thinks that will make him stay.
