His bravery was expressed in The Sirens "...the mast, and if I shout and beg to be untied, take more turns of the rope to muffle me," (Homer lines 696-698). Odysseus shows his intelligence in the Cyclops he when he tells Polyphemus his "...name is Nohbdy" (Homer line 315). He says his name is Nohbdy so Polyphemus can't tell anyone who stabbed him. Another way he expresses his intelligence is when he uses "three bowls I brought him, and he poured down. I saw the fuddle and flush come over him' then I sang out in cordial tones," (Homer lines 310-312). He also shows great leadership in the Scylla and Charybdis episode. He "...walked up and down from bow to stern, trying to put some heart into them, standing over every oarsman," (Homer lines 763-764). Throughout the Odyssey, Odysseus expresses his different skills which helped him survive.
