You see a student in your classroom who gets straight A’s in English and Science but begins to struggle as soon as he gets to Algebra in high school. How would you address this? Think about the steps you would take. What will you observe? Will you talk to other teachers or specialist in your school?

First step would be to visit all his past information including STAAR and grades, after that I will evaluate the student and get data from my classroom such as work samples. After that if the student is still struggling, I could contact the parents to express my concerns and see if we can work more with the student final step would be contacting a specialist in the school to see if the student has an issue that can be address through one of the resource
services.

I have a few of the students I observe saying that they have good grades in all other class except in math. I have asked them why and what can I do to help change things up. I would make more engaging lessons since I already observe the seniors discouraged from thinking they are not about to graduate. Also I always ask them about the other teachers and why they excel in their class but not in the math class.
