      <title>8th Grade ELA: Victims or Heroes? by Gen</title>

      <description>Ancient Roman Gladiators were considered warriors and were revered as heroes in their hometowns.  However, gladiatorial games often took advantage of the warriors, forcing them to fight until the death for entertainment purposes.  One can make the argument that gladiators were both heroes and victims.  I&#39;d like you to investigate gladiators and the gladiatorial games.  Decide for yourself whether you think they were heroes or victims. Start reading some of the articles and gather evidence to support the idea that gladiators were either victims or heroes.  Support your thinking and side of the debate with evidence from the articles you will read, i.e, quotes or data from the articles.  You may pick whatever side you would like to support.  Create a document in your Google Drive account where you will write notes.  Take notes on each articles that support your argument.  

After you have researched, by reading at least 4 articles, write a 5 paragraph essay that explains your argument.  Please include a paragraph that details the counterargument to show the opposing view. See the possible structure here:

After gathering your evidence and writing your paper, create a multimedia presentation explaining your position. Please link your paper to your presentation, so anyone could click on your link and read your paper.
In your presentation, you may choose to include  parts of your paper somehow in the presentation page.  For example, you may take poignant quotes and insert them into your presentation to have a greater impact on your reader.

You will have to explore the various presentation tools and see which one works best.  You may have to test the various presentation sites to see which one would be best to use for this project.</description>
